did they have a spike bayo this early ,only thing on the receiver is s/n and the 26 code 2,300,000 , no import marks

the date sheet says early second year production , but says spike bayo was introduced much later , clock is ticking on this one , not sure i want to pull the trigger

Hey Hoo, How are ya.

Anyway, a 2 million /26\ would be a late '57 and should be a bottom sling swivel and blade bayonet with long collar threaded barrel.

im doing good , giving the boards a rest for a while , you doing well?

so that means it was later changed to a spiker then , the bolt carrier and stock are non matching , everything else is g2g , im still thinking for a 57 $700 might not be too bad considering a average  chicom sold last week for $1,600 on GB , this is early , no import marks , no characters at s/n ,just the s/n and 26 , in good condition with a good bore

Keepin' my head above water, lol.

Did you check the barrel to see if there were import stamps there? If no import stamps could either have been missed or a bringback. Could have been a field repair, Albanian import, or just a parts gun like some of the builds I have done in the past. If you go to the projects section you will see several threads I have about my builds. One includes an early 6 digit '57 and a '60 letter gun. The latter ended up getting an incorrect stock and a spiker due to that being the only thing I had at the time. Still looks good though.
As for price, seems a little steep to me. I would be looking to pay around $550-ish for a non-matching Chinese like that. A little more if it at least had the correct stock and blade bayonet.

Of course price may vary depending on what part of the country you are in.

i took a shot , its $150  bucks difference , with the way sks rifles are going up i dont think i can get hurt even so ive taken bigger hits during my K98 years , he says/claims non papered no import marked bring back so i take that with a grain of salt as i do with my no import marked rifle , so the fact no import marks alone i think makes up the $150 to get to $700 , import marks carry more weight to me than matching numbers , allot of battle rifles were repaired , so if anything a true battle rifle with matching numbers can draw some scrutiny as well

Are you certain of the arsenal stamp? And 7 digit serial?

I ask only because there are a handful of arsenal stamps that, if poorly struck or worn, are often mistaken for the /26\ stamp.

Better yet... do you have any photos or links to the rifle?

Agreed, no marks does give it levity. What is it they say? Buy the gun not the story, but if you sell the gun, use the story to sell the gun. LOL

Main thing is, if it looks good and shoots good, it's worth having.

Nice lookin' setup so I think you did okay. I did notice he calls it a '58, but the SKS Guide database says it's a late '57.

Hard to say w/o better photos, but I'd say that one looks legit as far as being a possible bringback with a replacement stock and spike bayo as replaced in theater.

You won't get burned in today's market at that price.  thumb1

It has the look. No signs of an import mark or scrubbing thereof on the receiver rails or muzzle end of the barrel. The replacement spike bayonet may or may not have been installed "in country". I'd rate it a likely bringback.  I'd say you did fine.

Clicking on the + sign in the link gave pretty high resolution photos

Except for the stock it has a very nice patina for the time period.I think you did well for the price.
