Hello, I'm Rick.  I'be been 'a member' for a while but the posts I'd made are all gone.  I am retired Navy.  I picked up my first SKS in 1987 at a gunshop in National City, California.  The latest was given to my son when he got out of the Army.  I'm on the lookout for one to hang out with my Mosin Nagant M91 and my RomAK 91.

Welcome aboard NavyGeo (see what I did there, LOL) a lot of good info on firearms here, beyond all things SKS. Best of success in your search for one. The one you gave your son is a nice clean Type 56.

On a side note, do you find it a little odd that someone who spent so many years in the Navy ended up living in the desert?

Hello Sniper.  Thanks for the welcome.  My family visited Arizona way back when I was a kid; I found that I loved it here.  I find the desert and the sea to be similar; both are beautiful, unpredictable, and merciless.  Both demand respect, and reward that respect with amazing experiences.  I still find time every few years to visit the ocean, as I've found both to be equally undeniable mistresses!
