Wasn’t sure where to put this. I think we need a hunting section  :)

Took the Izhevsk out last season & got a little 6:

Chunked up the handguard so i bought a cheese grater for it shortly after, i think it looks good with the blued blade:

This sks came in a green synthetic stock, i took a well used laminate off of one of my old sino/albanians and it looks (and feels) better.

I used PPU (pointed) soft points, 123gr for the kill. He went about 20 yards and dropped. Shot was made at about 17 yards.

Anyone else ever take theirs out? Post some pics!

I built this guy to hunt deer or pigs, the donor was pre bubbad matching '77 that I gave the once over, barrel chop to 18.5" left enough muzzle under cut for a neutered front site globe, Mojo rear, flush 5 round mag, Butler Creek furniture, I call it the Canadian Deer Stalker. Light, handles quick, acquires fast, sights are like ghost rings. Then Kali change the regs to bimetal boolits, so I dropped back on my Savage 99F in .308 so it's never kilt nothin. PAX
  You need a crew

When I first got involved with the SKS, I bought a 53 and modified it. After shooting a couple hundred rounds of barnaul soft point, I felt ready for hunting season. Shot a nice 4x4 whitetail buck at 120 yards.
Sorry, no pictures of it.

Nice! I've heard those scope mounts are actually pretty solid. You have the same experience?

With the front locked into where the rear site was, it is solid. There were 2 ways of securing the receiver end. One had a pin with a clip to hold pin in place. But with this one it had a nut and bolt. This way I could tighten and lock the mount securely onto the receiver. The pin securing had a little play, so not as good.
