Hi Fellas,

This is the '58 Romy I've been chasing after. Numbers matching, not forced, including the wood. The furniture has me wondering if it was humped, the finish is very funky. What says Yee, PAX

The following is just my opinion... I'm gonna say the stock is either a late force match or....... humped... most Romanians the original stock serial typically also carries the original serial prefix to what ever rifle it was on., Some also carry a large font 4 digit similar to that(below) but along with an original stamp..  A mismatched stock could of happened anywhere, doesn't necessarily indicate refurb, a simple mix up around a fire, drinking and cleaning weapons.. anything really...

This is what I think of when it's been refurbed,  this is a 1960 Romanian. Has the large font.. but also the original prefix and serial are present.  And a quick look see at the one you present... the "4" font is different and the "7" I question... the font game is RM and Boris's ball park :) And maybe I'm seeing things.. but it also looks like the numbers may over stamp other numbers.

So.. we circle back to...... a very late refurb force match or humped or a combination, I would say either way, it's a former parts stock dolled up to match.
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

The partial serial (no letter prefixes) suggests replacement. But the stock appears to be correct hardwood -- Beech.

My view on Romy's is that the vast majority have had work done to some extent. As for the finish, It's hard to say with only two photos of the finish, with the glare and only one close up.

If I were in the market for a Romy this would be a hard one to pass up. Even with the partial serial on the stock, I would classify it as "ALL Matching--- Romanian style".

Thanks guys, the furniture has me stumped as well but I know most Romys are pretty fugly in the wood arena, my other 2 are. I'm going to use the butt serial aspect to try and beat him down, if possible, but I know they're hard to find in that shape. PAX
