I paid way more than I should have but I now have perhaps the coolest SKS I’ve ever seen. A 1978 unissued type 56 with all matching serial numbers. The serial? 00069. This guy is going to probably stay in cosmo because I already have another from that year but man am I ever a happy camper. I also picked up an unissued Bakelite stocked rifle.

Couple Chinese soldiers laid out in the open fully engulfed in cosmoline is a very rare sight : )  :o :o thumb1

Nice score thumb1 thumb1

Thanks, I haven’t decided if I’m taking the jungle stocked rifle out of cosmo (I have plenty of other SKS rifles I could use and don’t really see the point in removing the preservative I will inevitably replace). But SN 69 will stay in cosmo at the bottom of my crate until it funds my retirement.

Very nice! That 46 year old January 1978 Type 56 is a great looker  thumb1

Definitely a beaut as many year 23 /26\ factory carbines tend to be!  I suspect that the nicest guns in many a collection are year 23 and 24 /26\ carbines with a french tickler handguard.

The jungle stocked gun piqued my interest a bit, can you tell us a bit more on where you got them and what you think the story behind them is?  Very unusual to see a jungle stocked gun in an original box from the late 80's early 90's import batches (at least I've not heard of many (any?) jungle stocked guns in protective grease that came direct from China that is; Albania, yes).

Both very neat pick-ups!  thumb1

I’ll make a post about it later. I’ll mention that I’m Canadian and we just got a batch of jungle stock rifles imported for $550 CAD

Now that is interesting.  Chinese getting inventive with the new exports!
