Found this slightly bubba'd /26\at one of my LGS's. Except for the bayonet, I have all the parts on hand for restoration, including an early 10 round mag.  This one came on a phenolic stock, just like my letter gun came with, which poses the question, did they change the stocks at the factory before import of these older rifles, did the importer do it or were they changed by the owner with the coincidence of them being older weapons dntknw1.

Nice Bruce!  She's going to turn out well I'm sure!  thumb1

I am not aware of *any* Chinese type 56's arriving from China with phenolic 'jungle' stocks.  Of course, because I'm not aware of it doesn't mean it didn't happen.  thumb1

I am aware of some of the SinoBanian imports from Albania coming in with beat up phenolic stocks in place, covered in grease & grime, obviously restocked prior to import.  No idea if this was official arsenal work or done by Spiro down in the basement because he carved his original wood stock to the point of un-usability.

Thanks, RM. Pix of the replacement mag and top cover.
Now, should I keep the 10 round or use the 20 round wink1 chuckles1.

I prefer the looks of the original 10 round mag. The phenolic stocks are cool.

Is your stock inletted for a blade bayonet?

Bacarnal

Thanks, Jon. The stock is inletted for a blade, of which I need :))

Greatguns

I saw a couple of blades on GB and Ebay at more reasonable prices than usual

Thanks, GG. I've been following a blade on GB, but I've only seen Yugo blades on EB.  thumb1

Found a blade on EB but had put on a Paratrooper bayo as a stopgap.  The blade came in from Canada and is a Soviet, which might actually go well with this rifle due to it's early manufacture.  And funnier still, the stake holes match up thumb1

That looks better. Nice and Purdy

:P (I won't comment on using the stake holes for anything beyond the fact of knowing that the bayo was once staked...)
