Just got back from the FFL with my 3 new SKS'. 1 paratrooper (posted in the commercial section) and 2 still in the boxes unissued rifles. They were a freinds fathers who passed away and he bought them (according to the tag on the boxes) back in 1994. now they will sit in my safe for a while. Both 2407xxxx serial numbers. Me and the family will have some fun with the para though.

Golden tickets are still out there it seems.  :o
Unfortunate circumstance being that you knew the one who passed, but still crazy to see that untouched troves still exist.
Glad you were able to give them a new home and renewed appreciation.  thumb1

+1!!  thumb1

Glad you'll be able to give them a good home.  Are they /26\ 24 million guns?  If so, you got a pair of really *well built* type 56 carbines.  Possibly the nicest builds of any type 56 SKSs out there.

Wow that is a amazing they are still boxed up after all these years.  Very cool.  thumb1

Sorry for the circumstances that led them to you, but I'm sure they have a nice new home.

Great pair! Like RM said, if they're both Jianshe (factory 26) rifles, that is really quite the find.  thumb1 8)

MmmKay.... I admit I drooled a little.  Very nice.

Very nice indeed FCH. BTW, you can get NOS bayonet assemblies complete with either rivet or screw from Kengs on GB for as low as $29.95 + $3.95 1st class shipping.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/931934913  This one has a couple of bids, but they pop up all the time.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

The girl I got them from is a good friend of my brothers from high school. I never knew her father, who the collection belonged to but we appear to be cut from the same cloth. Old guns and old cars, sounds like a great guy. I went a little crazy and bought 26 "items" from his collection total. She seems very pleased that they are going to someone who is excited and into them as much as her father was. Yes, they are both 24 mil guns but I didnt specifically looks to see if they were factory /26\. I'll have to do that when i get a minute to crack open the safe (BTW I will need a bigger safe, LOL). I was also thinking as one of the posters did to get a couple of NOS bayos to stash away with them. I got 4 SKS' from her total, these 2 and then the camo Paratrooper posting in the commercial section and then the first that started it all ws the 24 mil /26\ gun with the jungle stock I got back in Oct. 2 shooters and 2 to stash away. SKS' are addicting. Now I was some old ones with patina and banged up stocks and stuff, Ugh! What have I done?

Craig...

Youve been bitten by Milsurpitis.  You may have caught it from the cosmo from your girlfriend's father's guns or it could have happened elsewhere if you fired a friends sks at the range with out wearing gloves.

Luckily its not fatal but the disease may last a lifetime.  There are ways to mitigate the side effects.  Larger safes may not be the answer...a spare bedroom not being used may be utilized IF your disease gets out of control.  Its cheaper than multiple safes.  Seek help if you start getting too many duplicates.

Some say that focusing on a part of their disease makes it better but many times leads down the path of similar friends disease preference's thus the potential need to use a spare bedroom for storage of the disease aids.  Dont ask about my secondary bedroom.

I wish you luck in your epic fight ahead of you.

A thread like this needs far more pictures of the newbees in the boxes ! You see, Were all addicts also  rofl

You did good ! And your money grew ! Sure you spent on some nice toys but not like if you bought a new car. The price of these will only go up my friend.

Wonder why they didn't come with bayonets ? I know my first Chicom was in that same era 92 93 94 and it had the bayo. I couldn't tell in the pic if your are cut for the spike or blade bayo. You got some good karma working for you on these finds  thumb1

Putting the house up for sale next week so all the fun pics will have to wait for a bit. For now everything is packed into the safe.

Good luck with the house sales Craig!  Looks like you're catching the tail end of this bull run.

I think a few years from now when the housing market has cooled significantly, people will look back and wonder why they paid $40k over the asking price in a bidding war.  dance2
