I am new here but not the SKS/AK world. Thought I'd share my jewel:

This was still packed with cosmoline and looks excellent to new. Stamped receiver. #s match.

It's a rare one. I will never fire it.

That's a great example of a rare stamped receiver Type 56!  8)

It's interesting to see the spot welds etc. I see it has a cast rsb. Are the fsb-bayonet lug, and the gas block cast too? What does the receiver cover look like?

Meh, poorly riveted, I'll give ya $159 for it. rofl rofl  J/K

Very nice, and probably the only other one I've seen was this one years ago on Gunboards, LOL.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Very nice Bill.  The rivet right above the crossbolt is the Achilles heel for this design.  The stock is so weak in that area that every single one I've ever seen that has been fired more than sporadically has a crack there.

P32, the receiver covers are a unique double folded stamped design and all the "trunions" are cast with some post machining done to hit tight tolerance areas.

It was a nice idea, but the fact they never really took off tells me that the Chinese decided to go in a different direction by this time: T56's, T63's, or even prototype T81's were determined to be a much better solution.

What excites me about this sample is that it looks practically new and from what I can see all numbers match.

I am getting older and I am not the hardcore collector that I used to be. I have two SKSs that are on my "never will fire" list - this one and a 1955 Tula that looks excellent to like new in a gorgeous laminated stock. No BBQ paint, shiny shiny.

I have studied pretty hard on sticking these on an auction, as I figure the stamped version in this condition should bring premium and the '55 in this condiiton should do pretty good. I have got a couple of Russian shooters and plenty of chinese shooters as well. But I don't know diddly about auctions and have trust issues with the online stuff LOL

This one is a looker, though!

Welcome Bill. Very interesting SKS variant. Great looking rifle. For those of us new to the SKS world can we get a little explanation about what/how/when these stamped receiver rifles were produced or maybe share a link if its been discussed before?
