Traded this sks 10 or so years ago with my brother who lives across Tx. He brought it back to me this Christmas. I did offer a pretty nice stihl chainsaw as a gift to him.

That’s a nice looking refurbished possible 1954. We need to compare the fonts on the receiver and receiver cover to know for sure.

Congrats on getting it back. You need to find you a sling to finish dressing that little lady, LOL.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

All matching. Fonts look the same to me. Seems like just a stock replacement at refurb, but who knows.

I agree. The fonts are the same and the receiver cover has the original two-tone bluing pattern. Again, beautiful rifle.

Nice carbine there for certain! thumb1

Database has many other '54s with that prefix and tabbed gas tube takedown lever (which changed to untabbed mid '54):

Aside from the obvious letter guns and that Ishevsk, there is also a probable '52 in there, but only with a population of 1, and that a clear refurb makes it hard to plant that flag.  FSB being square eared is a good data point though...

How many post do you need to see the database?

running-man

You've gotta be a rifleman (100) or above to see any of the databases on this site.  We have them for all nationalities to varying degrees, though the Russian database is the most extensive.

It's a tradeoff between allowing everyone in the community to have access to our work while at the same time keeping our work only available to those contributing members who will be good stewards of it.  We decided not to put it behind a level attainable by simply paying $$ to get it.  100 posts is only a solid month or two of interaction, yet it's daunting enough that most don't want to put in the work needed to get there...

Gotcha! I’ll get there eventually. Thanks!
