I have a friend that is looking for an SKS and I told him I could help him out.  I have been out of SKS buying for awhile and am not sure which one to give up.
I was wondering if someone could help me out and tell me which of the following rifles is the least collectible.   I will sell him that one.

Thanks

-Sorry about the upside down images, I can't figure out how to flip them.

Well, I can't see the pics well enough to tell what the middle one is for sure, but if it is what I think it is, you have an M21, a 10th year /26\, and a letter gun. The 10th year /26\ probably has the least value in my mind and easiest to replace if desired. So, that is the one I'd sell if it were me.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

I agree with GG, though all of them would be hard to part with cry1.

Yes what the other guys have said, but don't do it. You've got a good start  ::). PAX

I figured out the orientation problem.
Thanks for the replies.
I usually do not sell my firearms but will help a friend out.  He does not own any SKS's and was asking me about a refurbished Russian SKS on Gunbroker.  I figured I could save him some money if he was ok with a Chinese SKS.
I will see if he is interested in this rifle.

Now that I have figured out how to post pictures easily, I will post up some pictures of my other rifles.

I'm going to disagree with the above. Based strictly on what you show in the photos I do agree with what they said on the 10 mil, however, I would ask are all 3 of those guns original matching? If they are not, I'd go with the one that is not original or matching and if more than 1 is not matching or "refurbed"/ refinished in any way I'd rate them by condition. There are only certain circumstances were I think (my opinion) non-matching doesn't matter and would be kept no matter what (i.e. bringback).

all matching numbers is a big deal to me. if you have one that isn't, that would be the one i would sell him. if they all match, that's going to be a hard call.
ARMY NAM VET, SO PROUD!

The rifles are all matching and in pretty good condition.
I appreciate all the replies because I did not want to sell one that I would regret later. I sent some pictures to my friend and am just waiting to hear if he is interested.

What part of the world are you located? I'd help him find a beater, Bubba, or Paratrooper, and get him started down the SKS rabbit hole. PAX

I am in south central Nebraska.   He is looking for something not to beat up/worked on.  I do appreciate the offer though.

This! If you have any thought whatsoever that parting with any one of those three Type 56's might not be a good idea, you shouldn't do it. You'll regret it later, friend or not.

If all he's looking for is a 'useable' SKS carbine, I would look at the current $400 to $500 offerings from Atlantic, J&G, or Palmetto State Armory.

If he's looking for a more collectable gun in nicer condition, then what you have is right perfect, but I'm always a "Teach a man to fish" kind of guy vs a "Give a man a fish" one.  Getting a low cost beater ("low" is a relative term these days) to start with, he won't be so intimidated by "ruining the value" to things like using it, getting fully familiar with it w/o worrying about scratching perfect bluing, maybe tossing on a synthetic stock, receiver cover scope mount, or whatnot if he's into that kind of stuff.

An analogy: My daughter will soon be of driving age.  I'm going to start her off with a hand-me-down beater and not my wife's new VW.  When she's sufficiently well versed in not hitting things, speed limits, traffic laws, and the general teenage stupidity has subsided a bit, maybe we think about something a bit nicer for her.

P.S.  Definitely hang onto that all matching letter D series type 56.  I've seen exactly two of those not including yours in all my 20ish years collecting data.  They are not that common at all (in fact, I'd love a full spread of each one of your carbines if you're up to it, they all look and sound quite nice!)  thumb1

Thanks for the links to where the rifles are still available (was not aware they were available from retailers still). I forwarded the links on.

Unless you need the cash or just want to reduce what you have, I'd help him look for one.  Use your knowledge of them to help him get a good deal.  I'd just hold onto 'em for now.   :)
