Howdy, kind of new here. I have a Tula 1954 refurb with all matching numbers. I would like to get a Chinese rifle also. Are the rifle sold at A&G and Palmetto State worth the prices they are asking. I paid under 100.00 some years back for my Tula , but I would like to have a daily shooter , rather than hammer my Tula. The fore mentioned are 459.00 for a good condition rifle. Is this really a resonable price these days ?

Welcome!  You can learn a lot from the guys on here....I'm still trying to absorb it all.   thumb1

Prices have just gone up across the board, so no matter where you look you'll see it.  Those places, plus Atlantic and Classic Firearms (when they're in stock), are all options for buying from a retailer.  Look around locally too, pawn shops and individuals can also have Chinese SKSs at lower prices and you can inspect it first.

My guess is prices will remain up for sometime, before going down....a little.  Buying now while they are still in stock is probably the best decision too me. A good SKS is always nice to have around and the ones at PS are probably about the same as all of the others coming in now.

I'd say it depends on your expectations - I have been pleased with mine from Classic and Atlantic.  Just keep the expectations low and be prepared to replace a stock if necessary.  Mine have been fine shooters...not pristine, but good overall surplus rifles with an interesting history.  The ones from Atlantic were a little better than the ones from CF, so it's just luck of the draw as they say......

If you get something, share it here.  Good luck in your SKS quest!   thumb1

$500 seems to be the going rate on this latest batch of 1960s Chinese Type 56s from Albania. Of course all of those online retailers you're simply getting luck of the draw. If you have a Sportsman's Warehouse store in your area, that's an option to be able to actually look at what you're getting before you buy. They only had a couple in my local store (smallish city) but they were the same $500 price as everywhere else on line.

Personally, I watch GunBroker for deals. I picked up an early Type 56 for $400 three weeks ago. Deals are still out there if you're patient.
