Chances are close to nil that I'll ever own a Type 58 AK  cry1 but I recently picked up the Type 58 bayonet  :)

The characteristic 5-pointed star in a circle is almost completely scrubbed on this one. Holding it in the right light, I can see the top of the circle, but that's it and I can't get it captured in a photo. Anyhow, the scabbard, and latch are also quite characteristic of the North Korean. I have no idea if this came back from Vietnam or some other US military excursion somewhere. The example they show on the World of Bayonets page is reported to have come back from Grenada.

That's a nice example of a hard to get bayonet, from a hard to get AK, Phos! Really nice condition! I guess all Type 2's would fit on the early AK's, across nationalities?

That looks like a Strichtarn pattern field jacket or tunic. I liked collecting that type of camo. It was available for a while but has kinda droppped off now. Of course, it'd be a bit harder to find sizes to fit me nowadays. :-[

Thanks FC! I'm not certain, but I would assume that Type 2s would be a universal fit.

Yeah, that was more or less a throw away item from the same auction. $5.90 for a DDR shirt that fits me. A bit ratty at the sleeve hems, but that's okay, it'll mostly hang in the closet anyway  :))  I missed the days when the DDR stuff flooded in and was cheap and plentiful. I have a lot of the DDR AK mag pouches, but that's about it. I have another DDR item coming at the end of the week, but no Strichtarn pattern present.

That's one nice looking bayonet!

Looking forward to seeing what you've come up with this time.

As I understand it, if you wind up with one of these that appears to be a Norko, but doesn't have the star, then it's a Cuban.
The story I heard is that the DPRK made bayo's for Fidel way back when.

I have a couple of these. One is a DPRK that's not near as nice as yours.
The other is, I believe, a Polish. It's got a sheath that doesn't match any other that I've seen. That one came back from Iraq back in the early part of the war.

Mine may actually be an early Bulgarian. The nice neatly done etched serial number is dissimilar to the North Korean uneven, diagonal, stamped number.
