Found one this weekend

I have been searching for a beat up rifle to use to build a Para Parka clone. Pretty thin picking's locally. Finally two rifles from the same seller popped up. I was a day late seeing the ad. One rifle was an Albanian in a plastic stock. Asking was $425 but I was second in line. I would have brought that one back as close to original as I could. The other was the rifle I bought. It's a 58 model I think with a couple of force matched parts and a fairly nice stock repair. Looks like the stock was dipped in something. I gave $550 for it and I'm ok with that. This is my second Chinese rifle my other being a mixmaster that was missing the original stock so it may become the donor for the Para.

That's interesting Lowell, my '59 letter gun has a similar stock repair in it as yours. If you can't find them anywhere else there is a guy on GB who is in Pittsburgh, KS with username branash who has an OEM sling and blade bayonet for $95 starting bid and $100 BIN which isn't too aweful bad.

Anyway, cool find. I haven't seen too many '58s over the years.

That's a really interesting refurbished early Type 56.

I'm assuming this was one imported from China. What's the import stamp?

I've never seen such a stock repair or the EP'd and lined-out force-matched parts on Chinese, in the Russian style, but that's likely because I've looked at probably 20x as many Type 56s that came from Albania vs. the 1980s to 1990s imports from China

Importer is KSI Pomona CA.

I now have a nice Russian, Chinese, Yugo and an SKS S para and one folding stock bubba. Little at a time.

I also know of what is supposed to be a NVA bringback with papers. I don't think I can buy it but I may be able to talk him into a trade.
