My cmp M1 Garand.  I traded my cmp inland
Carbine from the cmp for it

Beautiful. I do love the M1 Garand and it’s nice to have a WWII production example.

There are going to be two types of people in this world , those without toilet paper , and those with plenty of ammo to protect their toilet paper

Nice rifle. I went for the M1A. I wanted the detachable mags. Mine is a .308. Is yours 30-06 or .308?

Nice rifle, Rvulcan. Stock looks good. Couldn't make out the grade or the ME and TE, but she's a CMP Rifle.

Rvulcan500

I dont know the TE and ME off the top of my head but it is a service grade. The stock was replaced by the CMP.  It has been finished with linseed oil.
It was made in 1942 rebuilt by Springfield in 1952 and rebuilt by Toole in 1965.  I the TE and ME tomarrow.  When I got it I left it how I got it.  The only thing I did to it was buy a bayonet and enblocs and of course ammo.  It shoots very well. My dad had it sighted in less than 5 rds.

I only have four left. I'll post pictures one day.
Springfield M1D, receiver date Dec 1941 CMP
Winchester M1, receiver date Dec 1941 CMP
HRA M1, receiver around 1952/53 DCM
Beretta/Breda marked receiver (yes, both) made for the Danish Military.  I built the rifle from a receiver and brought it to the Italian Tipo 2 (Type 2) Standards, ie. 7.62x51 NATO. I think I posted that one.
Over the years I've built several (dozen?) and still have a few parts laying around.

Nice!  Yes, pictures please  :)  An M1D or M1C is on my long list. The Italian/Danish rifles are definitely an interesting post-WWII story.

I have an HRA, a pair of Springfield Armory M1s including an o-66 Marine rifle (went through CMP and came out a Service Grade, so it's not as it left the USMC depot), a pair of IHCs and a trio of Winchesters. All but one came from the CMP. It's really impossible to beat them for price, except for the rare 1 in 1000 type of deal. The only drawback is that they're sight unseen, luck of the draw. That's really the only reason I have more than one IHC and Winchester M1s for now.

Rvulcan500

I'm happy with my springfield I received from the cmp.  I was shocked to find a 7xxxxx serial number.

Bacarnal

Yep, luck of the draw.  The first one I received from the DCM back when you could only get one per life.  It's the HRA. Came with an IHC bolt, Winchester trigger group, Sprinfield barrel, op rod and stock.  The stock is a pristine SA/GAW.

Bubbazinetti

I remember way back when it was called the DCM you could get a surplus M1 rifle for $162 . :o :o :o
