Got to Colorado about a month ago sans firearms (flew but didn't want to go through the PIA of flying with one or shipping).  Got here and the Girlfriend has some, but nothing I could call my own or relate to.  Found a Pawn/Gun store in Longmont that had (2) Mosin 91/30's. One was an Izhevsk  '42 with a sling and the other was a refurbed '38 Tula.  Both at $400.00.  I picked up the Tula and $450.00 (taxes, background, two day wait) later, I brought it back to the GF's.  The Izhevsk dissapeared just as quick.  Called around the LGS's and the cheapest, if they have them are at $450.00+.  Plus side, the Darling GF had two sealed cans of 7.62x54r, one a 300 round Bulgarian '53 dated and the other a 480 round can of Romanian '79 dated. Both LB and in great shape.  Her ex left them so I bought both of them from her for $250.00.  Yeah, yeah, pix are coming :)). Cheers!!!

Can you believe it? Just a month ago someone was asking on this forum if $319 for a round receiver at Empire Arms was a deal or not. It's getting even more insane day by day...

I hope Mosins won't go the way of Tulip bulbs, but I frankly don't see them losing value long term even at this price level. Although I think there is probably a limit to how high they will go - there are just too many of those around.

Prices are getting worse by the day. Personally, I'm shutting it down unless a sweet deal floats on by.

Mosins will never be cheap again. I wouldn’t buy at that price but I don’t need one (because I have about 4 dozen of them).  If you needed one I could see getting it and at least you have 880 rounds of reasonably priced ammo for it.

carls sks

nothing cheap anymore (guns, ammo, mags, etc.), if you can find any. :o
ARMY NAM VET, SO PROUD!

Bob, no I didn't move.  The GF lives in the Denver area so we are spending time together at each others locales.

Jon, looks like you're sitting on a Mosin mine wink1.  While not having quite as many as you or GM, the ones I do have I picked up for reasonably low prices, so this one in the mix still averages low.  The Bulgarian was a short tin of 300, but at today's prices, what I paid the GF for both was still good.

Carl, agreed thumb1

Yup, definitely a good price on the ammo at ~0.33 per round. If I was somewhere for an extended period of time without my own long gun, I'd probably do the same.  thumb1

A while back I was digging through some junk and papers.... and happened across a J&G flyer from '07 or '08...

I've talked about what was before... but I just found this photo..... and I cried. chuckles1  I also cried cause thats what I paid for my PSL then... rofl

I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

WHY, WHY, WHY did I stop going to gun shows 25 yrs ago. I can only imagine some of the stuff I would have now and for a 1/4 of the price.  banghead1 banghead1 banghead1

The only way to avoid Mosin #2 #48 is to avoid Mosin #1...  chuckles1

That was me. When I called Empire Arms, they were all gone.

If you guys think Mosin is the new investment opportunity, you may want to also take a look at SVT-40.

Same with a PSL.. the last 3 I saw sold locally were right around $2K.

Of course.. ammo is the new gold.

Is that a bad price GM?

Better interest than any account. Kinda like a Chinese NDM-86.. $6k to $8k sometimes more for one on average.

Found another at a gunshop in Wheatridge, Co.  A 1943 Izhevsk with a good bore, wartime solid stock heavily laquered.  Had it at $350.00 on consignment, asked for the best price and the owner dropped it to $325.00.  I anticipate picking it up tomorrow.  Pix as soon as I get her. Cheers, Bruce.
P.S.  Definitely wish I would have retained my PSL's and SVT-40.

Let me just break you little investing hearts... 2 weeks ago, I walked out of my dinky auction house, I threw a max bid of 380 at the start of the auction on a really nice matching refurb Mosin M38 in a M44 stock.... and won.  :)
