It’s still considered to be a G. All of the letters except Q and Z have been observed as letter blocks for the 1949-60 Type 56s. If it’s not a G, then where is the G, because it certainly isn’t a Q or Z.

Should be a /26\ arsenal stamp and I agree with Phos that it is a G. Modern Cyrillic is similar, but without the bottom part jutting out to the right. Could just be a font thing???
I have a lower SN than you with the same pre-fix, G2969. My calculation is that it is towards the latter part of the year 1959. I like to think September because I was born in September of 1959.

L is still MIA too. I have moments where I really think L is plausible and then others where G seems more likely...
