Sling is attached to side of stock

1965.  Add any numbers ahead of the last six digits to 1955 and it will give you the date of manufacture.  In your case 10+1955=1965.  By the way, welcome to the forum!

astronut is correct. For your Type 56 from Jianshe Arsenal (triangle 26) it works as he described, so 1965. It's a bit more subtle for other arsenals and some of the earlier years from Jianshe. Basically, the leading digits are the year of production of the Type 56, where the 1st year of production is 1956.

Right now a sale on Gunbroker could fetch as much as $700, maybe more. Pre-craziness, probably $450 at best.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Our own Ben Murray of Murray's Gunsmithing can do that, or Kivaari also does SKS trigger jobs.
