I have purchased a few tools over the years. Most I won't use, since I'm not a gunsmith, but the front sight adjustment tools will be handy. This latest and largest armorer's tools and gauges box was like opening a time capsule from 1952.

Headspace Gauges: CIP specifications for distance to the neck is 33.00mm. The three gauges are marked 32.85, 32.95 and 33.15mm

Nice!!! Where can I get a set?

Username assistant802 over on Gunboards sells items like this on his "All sorts of rarities from Russia" WTS thread. He lives in Russia (halfway between Moscow and Volgograd, in Lipetsk).

I absolutely LOVE stuff like this.
Honestly, I find things like this fascinating just because
A- It's tools.
B- They're very specialized (tool) kits for armorers.

Agree! It's pretty cool to have a full armorer's set for 7.62x39 firearms from the early days of SKS manufacture.

Good idea  thumb1

The front sight windage adjustment tool is a very solid instrument.

Here are a few tools for the Soviet Mosin M91/30. The front sight adjuster/remover won't work on the carbines since their barrels and front sight bases are a larger diameter.

Now we know why it's so hard to move those sights with the dinky little tools we normally have on our work benches,  :))
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

rofl Yeah, these definitely provide more mechanical advantage.

What are the tools along the right hand side of the SKS tool box? Is the tool just above the bore gauges some type of muzzle-wear gauge?

Such a cool set of tools! And in mint condition, too!

Nice stuff P32. I have the 91/30 sight tools. I think they're cool stuff to have.

I have seen on occasion the Chinese front sight tool that is similar, but only once the Russian kit....that thing is gorgeous. I don't recall the price tag, but I do know it was enough that I didn't even consider it.

I am also curious about the other tools in there and their purpose...I don't recall seeing those in the kit I had seen previously, just the headspace gauges and the sight tool.

The short black tools are for checking the distance from the bolt face to the extractor for the AK, RPK, and SKS.
The notched end tools in the white, are for checking firing pin protrusion on the AK, RPK, and SKS.

Yes, above the three chamber headspace gauges is a long bore gauge. It's marked 7.772, which is 0.306", so it must be a bore reject gauge, since the nominal diameters of the bore and lands are 7.62mm (.300") and 7.87 (.310).

Thanks Bob. Yeah, the sight pushers are really handy.
