I scored this 1951 Tula and 1100/rds before I moved. Got it for a steal although the seller was not trying to gouge; good man. These are not my pictures but when/if I unpack I'll upload some more  :)

I see the correct 45 degree gas block. Definitely looking forward to more pictures.

Thanks, is there any pics in particular you'd like to see? I know more about Yugo's than Russians.

Any photos are always appreciated here Turbo!

To be any use for the database, I would need clear photos of the receiver S/N, stock S/N, crossbolt stamps (if any), import stamp, the top of the receiver cover, receiver cover S/N, receiver cover takedown lever, the gas tube takeown lever, the gas port and the bayonet mount.  Anything else is just gravy, but includes all the other S/N, the barrel lug number, the bolt configuration (early vs late), and the magazine configuration (early vs late) Certain of these can be gotten in the same photo, but it usually takes about 4 or 5 at a minimum to get all the info I typically populate.  thumb1

Thanks for the detailed response, I'll get some when I get around to unpacking her. I am a little weird about posting S/N's online so I may blur a portion out. I look forward to your knowledge. All I know is that I got a hell of a deal in today's market!

Beautiful gun!  I'd be very proud of that one! thumb1

Thanks! It's my first Russian SKS, will keep the Yugo good company.

No worries at all, post what you feel comfortable doing.  Just remember that the actual BATF tracked S/N of a Russian is never (well almost never) the one the Russians stamped on the gun.  The S/N the importer applies is the true one.  For NHM, KBI, and CDI imported guns, it's a totally different number in a different location on the gun.  For CAI Russians, they translated the letters & those are often confusing to decipher.  (see: http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=1105.msg13374#msg13374)

Thank you sir! You think I would've known that as my recent former job entailed acquiring firearms  :) Please keep an eye on this thread as I welcome your insight.

Woo hoo a new '51 to ogle!!!  :)

Turbo

Thanks all, I am thrilled to have got her before I left. I literally had this deal to get early in the year but life, then Covid got in the way. I contacted the seller a few days before I moved and literally picked up the day before. It was hard to break away with all the packing but well worth it!

Larry D.

Well worth your efforts, I'd say.

OK, here are the requested pics, I tried to do the best I could as some of these are hard to capture clearly. What I like about this rifle (besides the whole deal I got) is that it has honest wear and I won't feel guilty shooting her  :)

Very nice.  I have two PH prefixes in the database verified from '49, another two unknowns that have late (post '52) receivers, and then this one which is very likely a '51 (just like the cover says) or a '52.  Will need more specimens to know for certain, but each entry in the database certainly helps!  thumb1  Nice gun Turbo, you did well.

Thanks for getting back. By more specimens do you mean more pictures from me or more from the overall pool? I'm thinking you meant the latter. I appreciate the nod!

running-man

Yeah more guns in the pool.  Hard to determine much of anything in any discipline with a sample size of 1.

They will show up eventually, they always do.  thumb1
