Okay, not to hijack the other '53 Izhevsk thread. Here's my '53 Izhevsk that I mentioned that I picked up a few years ago. Hint: you can tell by looking at the wood which parts are not going to match  ;)

Other than that, it's a nice clean SKS-45. No refurbishment arsenal marks on the cover, but it's clearly been refurbished with the replacement stock and mismatched gas tube/piston.

doh1  :))

Justin Hell

Wow, that is a very clean lookin' girl there.

Is it a refurb, or just an accident?  The piston is kinda hilarious though. But my most recent is a tube/piston mismatch, so I feel your pain.

Is it just the light or are the vents on the handguard rounded?

I dig the two digit stock, and the cyrillic used is pretty rad too!  Knowing your collection is a mere mountain range away kinda gives me the chills sometimes. I just wish it were today....friggin 90s. ugh.

Shoot The Refurbs

Wow, that's nice light refurb! That bluing is pristine, and that 2 digit SN really catches the eye.
Amazing find, a little miffed it took me grabbing one up to bring this beauty out to the light!   :)
Now I want to know what else you got knockin around the ole safe there  eyeball1 eyeball1

Thanks JH! It should have an Izhevsk cartouche and year if the stock were original, so I definitely think refurb.

The handguard is a bit odd. The edges on the vents are nice and sharp but the outside is rounded.

Yeah, I kinda dig the low number too. And the TG looks almost symmetrical in Cyrillic. No relief from the heat over here, over 100F today.

Thanks! It is really very clean.

rofl Yeah, I just checked my log, and it was 4 years ago last month that I picked it up, so it took me a while to post it.  :-[

As to my safe (gun room), I may have more than one or two additional rifles keeping this one company  ;)

Phosphorus32

One more serialized part. This is my only Russian SKS with a serialized bayonet (I think)

Justin Hell

Wow, heard talk of serialized bayonets...but haven't seen that yet.  Cool!

Shoot The Refurbs

maybe they only do it for the 2 digit guns  :)
but on a serious note i've never heard of that, ive seen buttplates ep'd but never a bayo.

Bubbazinetti

When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.

Yeah, that's a new one to me. Possibly a characteristic of the refurbishment facility that handled this one. They sure did a good job.

Larry D.

I'll pile on saying what a looker that one is.

You definitely have a knack for finding the really nice stuff.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks to STR for rattling your cage to bring this one out.

Thanks Larry!

A lot of patience, homework, and leg work (and $$) leads to some good finds  ;)

Did they really look that good coming out of the factory or did you polish her up for picture day?

Bob_The_Student

P32 with another sleeper. Very nice. I can't wait til he posts Lee Harvey's rifle he's been sitting on for 20 yrs.  chuckles1 chuckles1

That's how I received it except for some Cosmoline removal. My two Izhevsks do have very nice bluing and shiny bayonets.

Thanks Bob!

I do have 5 or 6 Carcano's, but not a "professionally" scoped Lee Harvey Oswald rifle chuckles1
