Hello all, I picked up this Paratrooper that had the most "hideous" synthetic stock on it I ever seen. The "ONLY" reason I bought this is because (A) it's a Paratrooper, (B) It's an SKS and (C) the bore, metal, and insides were emaculate and some parts had Cosmoline inside. I don't believe it was ever shot but can't be sure. All the numbers on the trigger guard, magazine appear to have been removed and the bolt and bolt cover as well. The only numbers are on the receiver.  I had an old wood Stock sitting around and instantly swapped it out from the Bubbafied configuration it was in.  nea1  I'll look at the shows for a nice stock set, (When ever that will be) and bring it back Purdy again!  Yeah, it's a Paratrooper, the "BIT@#" child of an SKS but it's still an SKS and for 4 Franklins out the door I think was fair.  P.S.   Anyone who want's a stock that looks like it belongs on a space craft, Send me a message, it'll go cheap!  chuckles1
Enjoy the pics!  Dave

Very nice.Believe it or not that Fiberforce Dragonov style stock is better than the original thumbhole monte carlo stocks that came with the Sporter 16" models.Still,it must have been a pita to field strip for routine maintenance.Somebody will likely scoff it up for their bubba project though.

You speak of the sporter, and I "don't think" this was a sporter.  If it is, how can you tell?   The serial numbers and import stamp don't correlate with being a shorter.  If I'm wrong, can you point me correctly?

No you're right Dave, your gun has nothing to do with an SKS Sporter, it is a standard 16" Paratrooper.  I think what bubbaz is saying is that the Fiberforce you took off is a much better stock than what was typically gotten on a SKS Sporter.  I have heard that the slab side thumbhole stocks are uncomfortable to use and fairly heavy.  Given my druthers, I would probably rather have an original wood stock on a std. paratrooper than either of them too.   thumb1

Yes,just like that. They look real nice and all but to handle and shoot them like that they really suck.

That's why my Sporter found it's way into a standard stock.

Nice weapon, Dave. thumb1.

Hey Dave, if you are interested I can help you turn that Drag stock into a folder. I have the folding mechanism on hand. PM me if you are and we can discuss it.

Nice find BTW.
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

Thank you for the suggestion and support!  thumb1. I believe I'll sell it as is once I remove the black gas tube cover.  I belong to a shooting club that I'm sure someone will enjoy it.  Not may SKS's here, Kinda like finding "hens teeth"!
