New to SKS ownership but not usage. Just MY first SKS on a 2 for one trade that got me it and a shotgun for a heavy AR. it's an 8mill serial with all matching numbers...but...not bayonet and the previous owner put it in a tapco. Stovepiped  2/5 rounds and got pissed, until I disassembled it and realized it was like new and still had packing grease. Yeah, it's in a tapco...but in that condition, I'll take it. Also has a POSP on an AK mount and its threaded for 14x1 LH muzzle devices...let the dissatisfaction fly boys.

BTW, welcome Gloyid, from MO
My Avatar is a pic of the real "Ghost" SKS in honor of xxxsks(joe). It is a pic of a fully decked out SKS in Capco hunter's kit. This was mine, the only other pic I had ever seen of one was Joe's.

She came with a friend. Buddies asked, "why trade your AR for a cheap SKS and middle of the road shotgun?" Uh...
1) I'm an adult
2) $$$ doesnt always reflect quality
3) the AR was heavy, proprietary  and inaccurate
4) rappers use SKS in their videos! Hahaha

Is the POSP scope mounting rail attached to the receiver or the stock?Do you get a good cheek weld for shooting?

Stovepipping issue resolved...she shoots so smooth now. After speaking to some of you on the forum and doing research, I came to the conclusion that it is a KSI Para Hunter that was tossed in a tapco and threaded. The POSP/mount is mounted to the stock, not the reciever. So it's still a pretty cool gun. Not worth what it could be anymore, but it shoots great and REALLY needs a brake/comp. Wow she is loud. Probably be even louder with a draco or VG brake. Cant wait to bother the soon to be neighbors.

Cheek weld isn't great but its bearable. Been using irons for test runs to resolve the stovepipes mainly and haven't confirmed zero with the POSP out at range. Trying to decide to get a wood stock or a different aftermarket one, as the magwell of the tapco is pretty damn sharp.

For what it's worth, I'd have made that trade.

2 for one in most scenarios is a good trade. There were no aftermarket parts for the PWS AR and it was heavy for no reason. Hell of a clean and cool shooting piston AR and I HIGHLY recommend PWS weapons, but it wasn't right for me. Now I'm looking at AKs in my region. SKS started a fire in my heart. Haha
