I went after one of these Centerfire Systems Chinese and I have to say although still comso'd up, I'm pretty happy.

Yes I received, as advertised, a crack stock and I think it can easily be repaired. I'm going to give a hell of a try because it's matching the rest of the gun. When clean I'll be back and show more photos. For now I wanted you guys to see what the offer has a potential to bring you. Everything, yes everything, is all matching. Tube and piston included.

Look at the cracked photo... looks like charging handle may have been culprit in splitting this stock. Perhaps?

Here are some cosmo photos. When I get chance to clean her up I will post finished product. Of course it has bluing wear.

Yup, I'd be happy with that SKS at the price offered  thumb1

The crack looks very repairable. If it were mine, I'd:
Heat to bleed out the Cosmoline,
rinse the crack with mineral spirits and finish with acetone to degrease as much as possible (avoiding getting the acetone on any intact shellac outer finish),
cut a couple of sections of 1/16" dowel if there's enough thickness (or thin brads),
drill out holes from above for the dowel with a 1/16" drill bit and sand down the dowel pieces a bit to reduce the diameter,
fill the crack with glue by spreading it carefully if you can or by dragging a piece of paper wetted on both sides with glue through the crack, and fill the holes with glue,
insert over-length pieces of dowel,
clamp and dry,
cut off the dowels flush (dab of stain on the endwood of the dowel) and you're good to go.  :)

Another method to try for repairing the split would be to follow P32's steps, but instead of using wood dowel, Brownells sells brass stock repair pins. They give instructions on what drill bits to use and come in two sizes and you use a hand drill to screw them in.  I've done several repairs to M1 Carbine stocks having similar splits and the pins work exceedingly well.  I don't use the AcraGlas, though.  Just a thin coat of Gorilla Wood Glue, or any quality wood glue.  I was told about the pins by several retired USMC armorers decades ago and have found their use suggested in old military firearms maintenance manuals (M1, M1903's, M1 Carbine, etc.).  The small diameter ones work really well in thin areas like yours and give added strength.  Cheers, Bruce.

Well now, isn't that clever.

I should order one of those kits just to have in the parts box.
That way I won't have to wait.
I figure that sooner or later, somebody will sell me something really cool for cheap because it has a busted stock.

I don't know how many times I've used them in the past, but they work great.  Since they are basically an acme screw, they draw the breaks tightly together.

Here she is all clean'did up! I did my best repairing the crack with epoxy. It's OK for my first stock repair, I guess. Probably could've been better.....

As previously stated it's ALL matching and didn't photo everything.

BTS, the repair looks good and the split seems to have drawn together well.  Nice work.  thumb1

Thanks gents! I did my best so I'm happy I wish it was just slightly less noticeable but all in all I'm pleased.

DC, I may have a dirty sling for it. I keep all slings in a box to keep safe issues at minimum.
