I don't know how common the cast receiver Type 56's are, but here is mine, Factory 0221.  Cheers, Bruce.

Nice! I know very little about that variant. I'll eventually have to get one, just because.

Based on observed examples, only a couple of arsenals are known to have experimented with cast receivers in 1970, namely [0221] and DB Harbin. [0221] cast some receivers (or used up old ones) again in 1976. Your 1976 example of a cast Type 56 I would consider rare. The other receiver production experiment, stamped steel, are uncommon but more plentiful than cast receivers.

I got lucky with this one. Picked it up at a gun show where I also got a "Ghost", both for reasonable prices.  When I took it apart for general inspection, I discovered that it was cast, something that i had never seen before.
And now the question everyone asks, what is the ballpark price for one of these?
Thanks, all.

Not much premium if any, hardly anyone who isn't an SKS aficionado even knows they exist.  They certainly don't perform better than their milled counterparts.  In fact, they are quite often uglier than snot.  chuckles1

Yep, ugly it is.  So, the more common stamped rifles bring a higher premium than these?  Veddy interesting...

How about posting pictures of the entire SKS. Thanks. :)

Pix as requested.  Serial on mag and trigger group 03458, the rest is 04858.  Cheers, Bruce.

I just realized today that I have what I believe to be an 0221 cast receiver, after reading this and related threads.  Pics and story later.

Neat, would love to see the rifle when you get the chance to post it vinco.  thumb1
