Picked up this Charter Arms Bulldog 44 special from my ffl today. 3" barrel, stainless finish, factory rubber finger groove grips and remora pocket holster. Seller also threw in a cable lock to go along with it.  Bought it to replace one that I traded back in the '90s for a S&W 19.  Regretted that trade for many years, not that I disliked the 19 but I liked the Bulldog more!

Very nice! Looks like a 5 round cylinder, right? That would make it a reasonably slim package for concealed carry.

As it happens, I had my Ruger Redhawk out yesterday. Shot a cylinder of .44 mag, decimated those full pop cans  rofl , and then shot a cylinder of .44 spcl, low recoil. The latter felt like shooting .22lr with that big heavy frame and 7.5" barrel.

.44 mag can also take .44 special but not vice versa.

Thanks everyone!   thumb1  And as an edit, I made a mistake.  The barrel length is actually 2 1/2" and not the 3" I first stated.  Yes, it is a 5rd cylinder and is 44 special ammo only, not 44 magnum.  I had an earlier model of it back in the mid '80's with the 3" tappered barrel, unshroulded ejector rod, "hook" front sight and wooden grips.  Traded it off for a S&W 19 to shoot competion with in the early '90's and regreted getting rid of it for many years.  When this one came up for sell, I sprung at the chance to own one again.  My elderly mother shot my Bulldog back when I had it and she preferred it to her S&W Chief Special in 38special.  She claimed it was more controllable for her in the recoil dept.

Ah ha! Much better 44 spl than 44 mag!!

Is that a Son Of Sam special?
The "Son Of Sam" special if I remember correctly was the earlier first model that had a blued finish, 3" tapered barrel, unshroudled ejecter rod, "hook" front sight and wood grips.  I could be wrong though.
