I found this original matching Romanian M44 at the local gun shop yesterday, and predictably, it followed me home.

My first thought was Bubba blued the bolt, but it's not cold blue and it's worn with a few spots of rust suggesting it was not a recent job. Given the blued bolts on many of the PLO/Syrian Israeli Capture SKSs, and the same CAI ST ALB VT import mark on this one (though not an uncommon style of marking), it occurred to me that this may be an IC Mosin carbine. Regardless, it's a nice carbine that came home at fair market value.

Def looks like the same IC bluing.    thumb1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Huh... think1 imagine that....looks like Finnish bluing too.  :)

I've seen a few Polish and Hungarian M44s and a few Russian M91/30s with blued bolts... other than bluing of the bolts no other IC features stood out.

I love this.. rofl
QuoteBlue Bolt... is the slang term for a congested collector, the condition of temporary congestion in the collector's safe caused by prolonged excitement in the human male. It is often accompanied by a cramp-like ache of the wallet and pain/tenderness from the wife

I knew the Finns sometimes blued bolts but I wasn’t aware the Hungarians did. I suppose the Romanians may have done it too  ???

We do know this one certainly didn’t go to Finland.

I never found a definitive answer on who blued them... ancient Chinese secret..  With all the stuff swapped, borrowed, crossing countries borders during that time, it's hard to say who did what and when and where it was done.

Only for sure one is Finland.. which is odd, they blued some of their Mosin bolts, but their SVT didn't get blued bolts...... while Russia blued their refurb SVT bolts and even captured Mausers, but didn't blue the Mosin refurb bolts or the SKS, it got BBQ'ed.

Right, but most Finn bolts are not blued. It could be an experiment, or the practice at one refurb facility for a short time. Who knows?
