Hello from Washington. First time SKS owner and first time having to remove Cosmoline. Just received my Chinese /26\ from Classic Firearms. Great forum with lots of info thanks.

Welcome from the dry side of WA! 

Looks like a nice 1966 with what appears to be a Chinese stock. Don't be tempted to over-clean the stock. Moderate heat and wiping with paper towels will do it without removing any of the remaining original finish (shellac).

You certainly have the basics down.

One of my favorite things is seeing what's under cosmoline. It's like a treasure hunt.
