I'm sKott.
A few of you may know me from the Saiga-12 board or the AK Files.

I have plenty of "toys" but I've never owned an SKS.
I saw a stock Norinco advertised locally and picked it up this weekend.

It is a /256\ B-west Import SN 130067X
Gun is in really good shape with lots of early features.
I stumbled across this site looking for a MFG date and it looks like I came to the right place.
I still don't have a clear answer on a MFG date but I'm sure I'll find it.
I've already filled out the Chinese survey so I hope that helps with the data collection.

The only thing I am missing on my SKS is the retaining pin on the cover latch.
What do you guys have a source for a replacement pin?

Anyway - Glad to be here.

Welcome sKott!

Your /256\ is 13th year of production, so 1968.

You may have trouble finding the pin only. I did find a latch with the pin at Desert Fox Sales

Welcome from Montana from a displaced Texan.

You likely can find a replacement that is suitable for the whole latch, but it's a tall order for the pin alone. The one that was eaten by my 49 Russian has proven to be hard to replace just the pin. The Chinese replacements are ten bucks or so...and since yours is already missing it's pin, replacement should be a breeze. :)

Glad to have you aboard (pun intended).
