Hello fellas, glad to be here. I got my rifle out after I seen the real way to break it down. Hope to get u some pics. It is a scrubbed Oval factory 974. Then to the right it has the 3 millitary emblems and a 7 digit S/N. There are no visible import stamps unless you release the gas tube. Then you can read SKS 7.62x39mm MADE IN CHINA KFS ATL GA. Yes I'm a deplorable in Ga.

Can't wait for the pics....not a very commonly seen arsenal.

I hope you kept the wife too...any wife that gives SKSs for birthday presents sounds like a keeper.  Once you can convince them that the new ones are gifts to them you know you have a real princess. :P

hi rebel and welcome. good to have you here. your honey sounds like a keeper.  thumb1 ----. does she have a sister?  :)

Well Carl, you may NEED a SKS, if you like Georgia peaches .  🍑ftp://

Sorry to keep you waiting Justin, I'm not use to this type of communicating. Hope I can remember how I did that. Now I get to reassemble it, that's almost as much fun as firing it. I am eager to hear from you soldiers that was on the wrong end of these and other types of weapons. You deserve all the respect from those of us that didn't serve.

That is a seriously neat SKS...and I didn't serve. The SKS Army is a play on the KISS Army logo...

Guys...check out that contour on the receiver....reminds me of my DB....

I hate to ask you to take it apart again, but could we see a pic of the entire receiver?  I am really curious if this is like one of mine that does not have a locking lug.... (its a square piece jammed through the receiever)

Justin Hell

Also...the scope mount is pretty tits too.  You should really give the wife a hug.

The DB I have looks similar in construction...but is a pinned barrel, so this is really neat to me. :)

I think you may be right Justin.  That keystock piece should be right behind the curve of the receiver that ends at the trigger group retaining lug.

Having problem remembering how I posted the first pics, I know, I'll go to college!

deploREBEL

I have taken the receiver photos but don't remember how I uploaded them

Read: http://sks-files.com/index.php?topic=87.msg41763#msg41763

Basically hit the "Upload image to post" link just under the textbox where you type your post and follow the instructions.

DB is a marking commonly found on certain type 56s.  The meaning of the letters is unclear, but it appears that the guns themselves were sometimes slightly different than the typical type 56 produced at a triangle arsenal such as /26\.

Justin's DB stamped gun he mentioned has no bolt locking lug key pressed in it.  Your photos show that yours does, though t appears the surface of the key took the bluing much better than is typically seen.   thumb1

WOW,so that is a Sino Solviet or Chicom? Granddad of a gun!

running-man

Just a standard Chinese type 56 made at different factory than your typical triangle arsenaled gun.  The S/N doesn't follow any known dating pattern unfortunately.

'Sino-Soviet' is an obsolete term as it doesn't really mean much these days with our improved knowledge of the SKS timeline.

So if I add my first 2 digits that would tell me that thedate of my rifle is maybe put out in 1968?
