Hi Guys,

While looking a little closer at my Paras, 2 KSIs and 2 BTCs, I noticed something that seemed off. All happen to be short lug actions. The first Para I got years ago, was a spiker in non numbered furniture that was painted crinkle matt black. I had some nice spiker wood, so I thought I'd change it out, but this was my first experience with short lug, and what I had didn't fit.

Fast forward to today, I notice that my newest Para, is blade cut short lug? I would have thought that all short lug rifles would be spiker. I spent the afternoon trying to fit long lug, short lug, & pinned actions and stocks to each other. Wasn't conclusive, but some stocks fit all three barrel styles. I guess it's not too surprising, since most after market poly fit everything, usually. PAX

Since paras are Commercial made models, sometimes they will build them from whatever parts were available at the time. Sometimes you get lucky, and a para is made from an all original parts rifle, and sometimes they are pieced together from other parts.

Such is my understanding with the short barreled banshees. One of my  BTC Paras is scrubbed everywhere except the receiver, but my surprise was that the short lug fit a blade stock, with the blade channel cut to fit the Para length bayo. It's longer and just cuts the brass pin, exactly as pictured in the files. I believe at one time, for a brief period, you could order either blade or spike Paras from one of the dealers. Then there was "Bayogate" and importers scrambled to not have the evil bayonets. PAX

Short or long lug.... The crossbolt will be located in the correct position.  Being a Commercial, I guess they did whatever needed with the bayo channel.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

With the rest of my SKS inventory, short lug and pinned actions, will fit each others stocks, but not long lug. Long lug actions fill fit in pinned wood, but not correctly, loose. PAX

Shouldn't...

If you place the action in the stock and flip it upside down, you will see where the flat of the crossbolt sits.  You will find a pinned action the mating flat for the crossbolt is milled into the front bottom of the receiver.  If you add a stock for a lug action, you will find the crossbolt landing out in front of the receiver in no-mans-land and not serving its intended purpose.

If you take a lug action and mate it with a pinned stock, you with find it hitting the receiver and not work at all.

Must've been the other way around. PAX
