I couldn't leave this one behind at Poulin Auction.

Blade bayonet, 8 million serial, still greased inside, pretty nice.

Pics, enjoy, and thanks for looking.

I don't know, looks like there may be a little wear on the hammer. I can take it off your hands for $300  thumb1

Seriously, nice grab! I've never seen a /26\ PS for sale/auction.

Loose}{Cannon

Nice get...   I should prolly add this to the other on the guide eh?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

You are more than welcome to do so, Travis.

Definitely a worthy specimen to have in one's collection. Very nice!  thumb1

Thanks,  rm.

How many  Factory  26 Public  Security  carbines in the  database?

Loose}{Cannon

Not sure if anyone is tracking them  I've seen like 4

That is the same count I have, all in the same general serial range.

running-man

I'm not really tracking them but I can do a quick search on my hard drive and see what turns up...

I only have photos of three other 8 mil /26\ PS guns: S/N 8,157,44x to 8,168,73x.  Definitely a narrow range with yours within it.

Tons of /416\, [0140] & [0141]'s though.  thumb1

carls sks

that is a beauty, thanks for sharing Martin.  thumb1
ARMY NAM VET, SO PROUD!

Beautiful specimen!  Look at all those stock stampings.... very very cool Martin! \m/

This one sold on gunbroker last month (just catalogued it into the September GB report)

Not quite as nice as M08's, but right in that S/N range.  thumb1

That's a really nice /26\ 公安 Public Security rifle, martin08! Beautiful PS specimen, for sure. I'd love to have one of the /26\ PS rifles in that condition, but they're so few and far between, in any condition. I've seen pics of maybe four, so far. Maybe someday! Probably the same day I win the Powerball!

I can't see the import stamp. It is a KFS Import, isn't it? (Kengs) I just like to confirm they all went through there, for stats sake.

The 8 million (1963) /26\ Type 56 rifles are a work of art, IMO. Beautiful rifles in their original condition. I have one, SN: 81772XX. They did a nice job on the wood finish, the bluing, and overall craftsmanship. I like the font used on the serial number, and it's got all the cool proof stamps on the wood and the metal. I couldn't find the import mark on mine, at first. It's very small font, located on the barrel between the Gas Block and the FSB/Bayo mount. The font must be around .060 tall, or less. Like the early B-West import font.  CAI ST ALB VT import. Mine isn't a PS rifle, but it's still one of my favorite SKS.

Gorgeous rifle Martin!

Here's something I don't think I've seen addressed...

There's over a decade difference between these 8 million public security rifles and all the other public security rifles.

What are everyone's thoughts on that?

Yes, a KFS.

And agreed, the finish has a lot of attention to detail.

I think these 8 mils were put into long term storage immediately after they came off the line. They all look new!

Tsk, tsk, tsk martin08-

Everybody knows that Great Leap Famine was over by 1962.

Just ask LC

(sorry, LC...martin08 couldn't resist)  ;)

Boris Badinov

Im guessing they just made some real purty rifles that year...

but there might be some way to tie the Great Leap ... (seriously, though).

Loose}{Cannon

Maybe....  They made enough to fill its purpose in 1963 and later received additional order/contract for said labeled guns?

Quality bro....quality.
It's not like you can break an SKS easily....and I doubt they would see as much action as any SKS utilized in a war.

Many of these probably spent most of their lives in the theater of a trunk.  Many of the years between might actually still be trunkside as we contemplate.  We may have just gotten a couple of different blocks of them before we ceased importation.

I hope to come across one someday...they are very well made.
Martin's with the blade is just plain sexy....and I am kind of partial to the side sling stocks as well.
I am thankful that the membership here lets me live vicariously...even if temporarily....through them. :)
