Found these pics on another fourm. Not mine. Rifle looks new. Never seen a tag like this. Serial number on tag does not match known East German serial numbers. What you all think.

What's the triangle shaped shaded area on the receiver where the S/N should be?  Man that's in the wrong spot for a sunburst. 

Chinese connection perhaps? 

Maybe a heavy Russian refurb stamp on a Soviet SKS ala:


E7 could be an ЕГ prefix with a standard four digit number afterwards perhaps?

Nevermind, S/N of the rifle is 60F2218.  That E72218 must be something totally different or the paperwork is not even associated with this rifle:

Isn't that /1\ marking what people were considering a DDR marking up until recently?  The /1\ was recently attributed to being a refurb mark by the refurb arsenal in Liski.  The pic below is a small listing of refurb arsenal markings that have been tracked down by an Russian engineer that was assigned to the archives at one arsenal.  Many more exist.  The octagon looks like two other factory markings, but might be a different factory.

Yup....  and we have been finding the octagonal stamp on several russian refurb sks rifles lately.
