I've never seen or fondled in person a legit BSW, the rarest of all manufacturers of the k98k. This rifle popped up on the broker with a tempting BIN option and I snapped it up.

Spandau replaced the barrel and the rear sight sleeve here, but interestingly enough they salvaged the original e/4 rear sight components. Spandau stamps are on both the pistol grip and on the right hand butt stock, directly over the original third waa/4 acceptance mark. I also believe that the Sauer-made front band is an unoriginal part too. The bolt is original matching but has a replaced shroud.

What's got me perplexed is the stamp on the butt plate. I've seen plenty of depot stamps on the plate but never one in this format. The "135" is a mystery but I think the "III" is another hza Spandau mark, per this site: http://www.lonesentry.com/manuals/tme30/ch6sec2.html

"You would last about an hour in Charlotte before the police were called bc you were walking around outside with a bottle of scotch and a g43."

"I don't appreciate you showing Nazi images. My old lady's granddad died at Auschwitz."
"I'm sorry to hear that..."
"Yeah...he fell off a guard tower."

I'll bet that stock was gorgeous when this one was fresh off the line.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the significance of the H on the stock Kevin?  I've seen you point out K and L stamps but I can't recall seeing an H before.

Wow, a rarity and a beauty! Nice tiger striping in the walnut stock and a good condition original sling  thumb1

RM, the H is for Heer, German for army.

Oh man...  You got swindled on this one.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Yep that goes for me too.

Lots of folks with Mauser collections wishing they could find a BSW.

Like me.

Good show!
