Are there any differences as far as the way they fire?

Thanks

This is just my personal opinion.... I've had almost 20 SKSs now, and I can say that the stamped trigger groups are almost always much smoother operation.

thanks

i have an older milled that i havent fired yet

and a 1990 stamped.  same with this rifle

i dont get much of chance to do so

so i guess the 1962 rifle wont be very smooth

in the future i will probably get that one worked on

I only have one SKS with a stamped trigger group, so not much of a sample size.  It did perform well.  I suspect the smoothness and lightness of the trigger pull may have more to amount of use and hence wearing in of the smoothness. Exact spring constant and lube may be other factors. PS could probably speak better to the various factors. I'm no expert and this represents a rather small sample group.  The Public Security SKS is in excellent condition but definitely had the trigger with the greatest creep.  The old beat up Albanian used ghost Type 56 had the best trigger with regard to feel, creep, break and consistency of the weight of pull.  The stamped trigger group DB had the lightest overall pull but more variance with respect to the exact weight of pull to the break.

Used my Lyman trigger pull gauge. Pulled the trigger a few times first (warm up) then measured the average of 7 pulls. Tried to replicate the direction and duration of the pull as closely as possible for each trial.

Great feedback!

Have a 1962 paratrooper /26\ all matching #s except for the stock and bayo/spike.

Haven't gotten a chance to fire it.  I was going to have the trigger assembly worked on
to smooth it out.

I also have a newer 1990 stamped parts. Pinned barrel.

Hmmm,  Earliest chinaman nearly identical to a late chinaman.  think1

I have had alot of both and its completely random.   thumb1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.
