....gun.
This is my new looking refurb.  I believe they called it 'supergrade' at the hunting store.
I wasn't looking for an SKS, i already had one but i watched a guy choosing between a few, then another guy watching took one, then a guy watching him took one and what the hell i might as well.  They were soooo nice.  i liked the serial number, and its my dads initials so i used that as my excuse.
You always have to rationalize. :)

There are a few tiny inspector markings on the stock, but darned if i can make them show up.

This side of the stock looks like it was  Friday afternoon refurbed and just sanded where the previous markings were as the texture is different.

It was their way to charge $30 more (i think) than a regular refurb, but they were on sale for $30 off at the time, so it all worked out the same.

(1) can you please show a picture of the serial number on left side of receiver?
(2) can you please also show a picture of top of receiver cover?
(3) personal opinion: the serial number stamped on stock looks weird.

Thank you.

Capt. Ke, the stock S/N on some of those Canadian guns are more than weird.  Anytime you see that suffix on a piece part of a letter gun, that automatically indicates something is off.  It's a refurb of course as the OP stated, but the stamps they used are quite large and they hit the hell out of them to impress the wood (notice the circular impression of the stamp body around the K & A?).  The toe splice is also quite interesting as you expect to see them on replacement stocks.

My personal opinion is that these stocks were 'freshened up' by the exporters to gain a more favorable price or to meet a certain criteria from the importers.  I've even seen some very authentic looking cartouches on '56 Canadian imported SKS-45s that simply had no business being on the stock.

Newchi, don't get me wrong, it's a great specimen in superb condition and will likely shoot lights out! thumb1  To the American collector however, there's just something off about it.  We simply didn't get guns, refurb or not, that looked like that during our brief import period.

You forgot Deplorable.     bat1

Very nice russian!    Are you going to shoot this one, or is it a safe queen?

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Sounds a little like what they have here in the states with freshy new arsenal stamps floating around, restamping and what not, helps drive up the bottom line in resale value. One of those slippery slope type deals.

Oh its a refurb, i personally have never seen a non refurb.
And the stock number is weird, whether it used to have 3 xxxx'd out numbers and they sanded it to make it look like just one idk.  The rest of the stock is pristine with teeny tiny insection stamps so i cant figure out why.
But almost all of our guns come from Ukraine, the dodgiest, sketchiest, do anything for a nickle, my brother in law is a guard there, for a bottle of vodka and some smokes he will take a 2hr break, former part of the soviet union.  So could be anything.

This kinda shows by reflection the sanded area.

The receiver cover is blank with the regular diagonal thru a box refurb mark, i cant get it to show up on a photo.

I shot it when i got it, and its certainly good, but it may have been a queen for the 18 mths or so.
My Izhevsk  i brought about 2 mths after this and still havent got around to shooting it.

My personal opinion: the serial number on stock was recently stamped, not done at original Soviet refurb facilities.
