Welcome to the site :)

A 27 mil gun is a pretty late built gun, circa 1982. We've also seen 28s and 29s, but they are pretty uncommon compared to the older ones.

I'll say it before everyone else does...... let's see some pics!  Then we can better see exactly what you've got.

Pictures would help a lot, especially of any markings on the receiver such a triangle.

So by the 29mil guns were the Chinese still making military production or was it all commercial sales???  Military export?

Type 81 meant a phasing out of sks from military use.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

29th year of production would be ~1984.  I guess they could have been making them for police and militia still, but type 81 would have been in full swing by '84.  I've never seen a year 30 SKS (I don't think anyhow).

By 1984, Chinese arms were legally for sale in the US for the first time since China turned red if ever.  That's a pretty lucrative market that just appeared out of nowhere. We have seen advertisements for Clayco M8s that we know date from mid to late '84.  If I take my Clayco M8 and compare it to a 29 mil /416\ or non-arsenal stamped, aside from the missing bayo, they are identical in every way from the pinned barrel to the RSL markings.  Take some of the later commercial models like the SKS M and its variants, and I'd bet the components strongly resemble these late 29 mil guns.

That's an interesting side note RM. If you look at the M8 FSB, it looks just like the late Sporter and M FSB. But what's odd about that, is there is a 10 year gap between those two guns, and yet other non-bayo models in between used different FSBs.

I'm thinking it should have a spike on it missing the cleaning rod other than that its complete numbers all match. Best of all shoots like a dream..

Loose}{Cannon

Spike would be correct if its what we think it is.   thumb1

(Sorry, photobucket is being ridiculous yet again.  Almost at my breaking point with that adware site.)

Looks like a /416\ to me.  Poly Technologies import.  Nice little gun.  Should have a spike bayo.
