Isn't that statement a little contradictory to what you've said in the past? I asked this a while back and your response was "canadian border jumpers".

No...  They are surely out there and a possibility, but I doubt in any numbers to justify all the jungle rot carbines we see on broker every month.  See my Board challenge thread.

Less than 2k newer than my 10m (I didn't let mine see the pics) Same importer....same P after the serial. 

Still wondering who P'd on my serial...   

But, at least there is a little consistency with the same letter being used by the same importer in a fairly tight range of serials.

This might suggest that it was done by the importer, but this P is below the stock line enough to make me think it happened before it was assembled. They wouldn't go to the trouble of full disassembly stateside would they?  Mine is currently dressed for a night on the town, but the P is in line with the serial enough to think that it would be above the stock line when she is in her Sunday best.

More fuel for the letter debacle.

It's an excellent specimen. I was surprised at the quality of the [0147] arsenal's finish on the rifle, though. Looks to have been blued using a cheese grater. Is that a norm for the [0147] rifles?

Another point on that rifle, original owner never bothered to clean ANY cosmo out before firing the crap out of it. I wonder if he tried that in a cold climate? Brrrrrt. Brrrrrt.

Unfortunately, I haven't been tracking the PSs in the GB threads.  I know there are several per month, but I don't track them actively.  I guess I could add a PS category and track the gun via that instead of putting it in the /26\, /416\, [0140], [0141], [0144] columns....

The other alternative is to move them over to the commercial Gb listing...though I don't think they quite fit in there...


I have been tracking the PS guns in the NON-/26\ Serial/Arsenal Data Collection Thread though.  They all have (PS gun) after the S/N.

I've been watching the PS rifles for a few years now, As collectors we have come to recognize PS rifles and their traits and arsenals, and of course the tell-tell right side stamps.

Well....3/4 + of PS rifles sold, the seller doesn't even know its as PS ( or SF) when listing. WE notice, but most do not. While the number was high this month...it can be months before another is sold.

They are uncommon for sure, like I said we notice them because they have traits that stand out among the million + other SKSs out there. Now...1 importer + 1 style import stamp. Compare that to all the other importers and multiple style import stamps. Uncommon....but yet obtainable to the common man. With the /416\ 18 mill range, I've observed less than 5k in s/n range.

Out of 95 this month we saw 4 or 5? Believe me when I tell you that was alot for 1 month. I've read 800-2000 made it in country. While I can't back that up, It doesn't seem far fetched either.

Take an arsenal /56\ for example, not common place but once you start looking for them...you will find them. I say grab a PS/SF SKS while you can cuz mark my words....1 day you'll wish you did.

I counted the PS guns on the non-/26\ serial number list.

[0140]=0? (I know LC said there is record of one, it's just not on the list)

[0141]=7 total on list (all within sn 24,000,08X to 24,000,363X)

[0144]=4 total on list (all within sn 2,400,46X to 2,401,92X)

/416\=18 total on list  (12 between sn 1,706,75X to 1,730,43x)
                                   (6 between sn 18,030,04X to 18,039,90x)


I looked and my /416\ PS rifle is not on the list,   for whatever reason,    , so, add 18,038,103 to the /416\ PS list. (pics on request)

I did get the Poly Tech "Certififcate of Authenticity" from KFS for my Chinese SKS Public Security Forces Rifle. It was made at the State Arsenal /416\ in Shandong Provence, China. Imported on October 13, 1987 and sold on February 02, 1988. CofA signed by David Keng and Da Keng.

Unfortunately, the last PS rifle was one of those picture deficient auctions with no pic of the receiver/sn. (dollars to donuts, I bet it was a /416\, too.)

So, even though it we know it's there, we can't record it's existence. It's out.

Four PS rifles sold this month, three two that can/could be recorded. With my /416\ PS added to the list, along with the above three two PS rifle sales:

If the 2 pallet imported theory is correct, then that would mean 10 cases per pallet with 10 carbines per case or only 200 PS carbines imported.  I am basing pallet size on the pallets Classic had stacked in their yard (still in the shipping wire) when they received their last shipment of Yugos.

I'm ashamed to admit I probably have 2 to 300 S/N that haven't been recorded to any of the tracking threads yet.  Albys, Romys, letter prefixed Chinese, you name it. About the only ones that get worked on ASAP are when a new Trinity gun tirns up.

I have the [0140] PS (I think), and I know I have at least 1 of PS marked /26\ guns in my files. Too many irons in the fire and not enough time in the day to get everything recorded the way it needs to be I'm afraid. Maybe I can make a Public Security subsection in one of the tracking threads and we can consolidate everything into a single section for these for easier tracking.

I just can't see that... I see at least 10 of these guns a month for sale on the various internet sales sites I visit daily. There has to be way more of these guns. I could be wrong, but I'd be really surprised if the number is even less than 1000 rifles.
