I forgot to mention that it also has the CAI #5 style import mark as per the list compiled here.

Wow....  lookin great!    Thats a strange font 4 on that stock eh.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Nice, intriguing carbine for sure. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thanks guys.  I figured that, instead of me trying to figure out what parts are what, I would try to get a good picture of them and let you determine what is what. I didn't want to say something is one thing and have it turn out to be something else.  That could petentionally cause issues for your database you're trying to compile.  If you need a better picture of any component, ie. barrel lug with stock removed for example, let me know and I'll see what I can get you.

Very nice indeed!  I've got one other year 23 /0130b\ in the database, gun number 1490.  Identical to yours (as expected) with pinned barrel, 4 digit numbers on the piece parts, 3 on the RSL, late RSB, side swivel, etc.

The "4" on the stock, is identical too.  They meant it to look like that which I find very interesting!

I don't know if you noticed it on your carbine rwhite, but the last four digits on the receiver are vastly different from the "230" up front.  Stamped at different times with different fonts.  One of the many data points that show that the first digits of a Chinese type 56 are 'special' and the dating system we've found is *not* /26\ specific.

I'd like to use these photos in a spread for the /0130b\ guns here on this sub-board (if you are ok with me posting them.  I will X out the final digit on all S/Ns to help anonymize things just a little bit. I don't like doing the govt's work of collecting data on gun owners for them.)  If you could provide a photo of the whole left side of the gun (showing the side swivel clearly) I think that will be all we need to put year 23 to bed.

Thanks!  thumb1

Yup...   I was wondering if anyone else would notice.

I've mentioned that several times before, that most of the 70s and 80s built rifles have year identifier part of the serial stamped at the same time as the arsenal and chinese letters. The year identifier is stamped upon receiver production, and then the rest of the serial is stamped upon rifle assembly.

But it's not universal.  There are many where it's simply not as striking as the previous examples:

It may very well be that these are indeed pre-stamped with year codes going into the rifle build, but I think the jury is still out on whether this is a universal practice or if it was done differently depending on the factory.  These /0130b\s have the largest font differences of any that I've seen, so it's a nice data point.

Edit: there should be two photos above.  Looks like photobucket has taken a dump yet again.   dash3

Feel free to use them.  That's why I posted them.  ;)

I'll get you the requested left side pic, as well, but it may take a day or two.

She's definitely a beauty rwhite.   drool2

I'll post it in the /130b\ section as soon as I get a chance!  Good gold standard gun here!  thumb1

Moved this into the Chinese section.  The /0130b\ entry in the ARSENAL COMPONENT CONFIGURATIONS is updated.
