Here's a nice 1973 arsenal /416\ Public Security Type 56 that arrived yesterday, about 2.5 weeks post auction. The finish on the wood and the metal is excellent as Greasemonkey notes in the "SKS Guide"  :)

SERIAL NUMBERS

It really is a 3

 thumb1  Very nice Phos!  Have you tried the trigger?

That is a beauty for sure!
When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."
Rudyard Kipling  1919

Thanks!

The trigger is nice. Smooth, not gritty. This carbine is in excellent shape but certainly not unfired so I'm looking forward to taking her out on a date to the range.

Yeah, I've never seen such dark wood, but it's nice.

:))  A combination of a few rifles coming in from auctions on very different dates and in the case of the G33/40, just way behind in posting pics.

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Good question  thumb1  I studied the area with a lighted magnifying glass and the serial numbers are 80% dull vs. the surrounding glossy finish. I'd say the numbers were stamped after application of the shellac.

A couple of badges from a Chinese website. I won't vouch for the translation, just Google Translate, but the original characters are there and the link to the sanitized PRC Wikipedia site  :))

Thanks guys!   :)

My apologies for resurrecting a 3 month old thread but I thought the badges were interesting and this thread was a good place to post them.  They're from the first page you find when you Google the Public Security characters, 公安, from the right side of the receiver. Here's the link translated to English:

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&u=https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh/%25E5%2585%25AC%25E5%25AE%2589%25E6%259C%25BA%25E5%2585%25B3&prev=search

The functions of the "Public Security" forces in the PRC are very broad, much wider in the scope of activities and spectrum of authority than our municipal police. Instead they are State (National) Police with police, immigration, political and national security roles.

Duties and powers
-To prevent, deter and detect illegal criminal activities;
-Prevention, the fight against terrorism ;
-Maintain public order, to stop acts that endanger public order;
-Management traffic , fire , Dangerous Goods ;
-Management of household registration , identity cards , citizenship , immigration and residence of foreigners in China, travel and other related affairs;
-Manage border security order;
-Specific personnel guard the state, guard important places and facilities;
-Management of assembly, procession and demonstration activities;
-Supervision and management of public information network security supervision work;
-Guidance and supervision of security work of state organs, social organizations, enterprises, institutions and key construction projects, guiding work of public security public security committee and other mass public security organizations.

So one police force has roughly the same authority as about a dozen of our alphabet agencies

Basically, the DEA, FBI, CIA, NSA, SSA, ICE, FEMA, DHS, ATF, DEA, USHA, FSA, FSLA, EBA, SEC, FERA, and about half a dozen others wrapped in to one cluster, plus acting as state and local LEOs..

So, why do we need alphabet soup... rofl

Cuz, heaven forbid, our agencies work well together and share information to help prevent terrorist attacks. Oh, wait, the creation of a new department (DHS) solved all those problems  ??? rofl2
