Looks to me like it has already been tung oiled.

Maybe shellac.  Its over and in all the scratches, dings etc.

Nice eye Jim!    IACO stamp on it too so that likely puts it at a pre '91 import as NHM did the bulk of the '91 through '94 imports it seems. 

That gun reminds me of my "silver" six digi /26\ (well except for the uber rarity! ):

See, nothing to worry about, they are becoming as common as a regular ghost or letter rifle.. It's becoming just another junkie Chinese/Russian rifle. Nothing special to see, hold or own.

Awesome Jim!  Did he out up pics of the stock S/N too?  I'd love to see more of that one if there are any other pics.  Maybe import stamp too if it's not too much troubke to put up for him.

The stock on the second one is a bit odd though.  That buttpad obviously doesn't belong there.  I wonder if the numeral size on it corresponds to a '56 Russian font?  Its obviously not an early ghost font on the wood...
