This is exceptional Joe!  Really nice comparison!  thumb1
I had no idea that the FF and the Type 89 w/ locking lug mounts were not interchangeable.   I always assumed them to be the same, very interesting.  clap1

Sticky...   Just wat we needed.   I hate being confused on these.

VERY nice job Joe!

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Fantastic!

I really had no idea there were so many...this information is going to save someone, sometime... some serious trial and error.

Great write up Joe!

This is awesome Joe! We needed a good scope and mount comparison. Learn new stuff every day!

Excellent job, Joe! First time I've seen such a clear description and comparison on these! Way to go! This will be so useful from now on!

I had no idea on the FF and Type 89 differences, either.

Does anyone have original scope lens caps for a 4x32 Farmers Friend scope?

Not sure they actually came with lens caps, unless you're referring to the rubber eyepieces?  You may have some luck looking in the Sportsman's Guide catalog or places like Natchez, Brownell's, Williams Gun Sight, and Midwest Shooters Supply. Brownell's and Midwest Shooter's Supply are the two that I have used that I've had pretty good experiences with. I've done a lot of business with Sportsman's Guide in the past for surplus equipment, but I'm not sure how deep their inventory goes with shooting supplies.

Measure your scope and they should be able to match up what you have.

I've never seen a NIB, as-issued-new, Farmer's Friend, so I can't say whether or not they actually came with lens caps.

Best of luck and welcome to the board!

The Farmer's Friend did actually come with rubber scope end caps. These were to protect the ends of the scope, when it was stowed in the wooden case.

As for finding replacements... the chances of finding an original pair are pretty much zero. There were often lost and very few FFs on file still have them.

However, they literally are just plain rubber caps. I am sure you could find replacements that look just like the originals. Check places like Mc-Master-Carr online, or just start searching Google for places that make rubber caps.
