I'm posting some pics of my issue. The bayonet collar will not fit over the end of the barrel. I could use your help as to what may be the problem. I'm a noob with the sks platform so I could use all the help I can get, thanks everyone for your help.

Is it an alignment issue or is the hole throught the collar simply too small of a diameter?

Cant say I have ever seen a rifle with this issue....even when using dif countries collars on dif guns.

You might try pulling the bayo collar off the gun (remove the bayo screw, blade, and spring) and trying to see if it will slide over the end of the barrel just by itself.  If it's misalignment, it should slide right on, if not then there's a sizing issue. Maybe next check and see if something is out of round (egg shaped).  Hopefully it's just a bit of filing or a bent piece.  Worst case, you may have to swap out collars.

That's what I was thinking but look at the 1st pic.  :o Something there is just not quite right. Its as if there is extra metal or crud on the bottom of the barrel. Like it didn't get turned down enough and thats where the bayo collar hitting it has shown it. Maybe even a buldged barrel at 1 point or something wrong during a recrown.

Can't say I've ever seen it but I think its the end of the barrel. Wouldn't hurt to get another bayo collar and see if it fits.

Rethinking.....If not barrel then what LC said about collar not being right diameter could have caused the marks on the barrel. Its the 1st point of metal to metal contact.

Could be. Hard to tell if any part is off from photos unless the pictures are dead on.  Easiest way would be to hit both barrel and collar with a set of calipers and see what the clearance is.  Many people don't have a set of calipers though.  (They are well worth having though.)  thumb1

I have had this happen on one of my old 0406b guns. It didn't look like it, but the very end edge of the muzzle was peened over slightly and it did exactly what yours does. I wound up hitting the edge with a file all the way around till it fit nicely and then reblued it.

Any cheap set of calipers will do...

Well turns out a 3/8'' deep socket and a couple swift blows must have did the trick because the bayonet slips on and off with no issues. Turns out that I don't think it was a out of round issue but more of a burr issue on the collar. Again, I'm no expert but that was my gut feeling.
I will put up new pics with the bayo fitting nicely tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for all your help.

I just ran across this post and would be interested to see more pics of your /416\ SKS. It's a POLY import, so I figure it's not a PSF rifle, but I'd still be interested to see pics of the whole rifle. /416\ rifles seem to be fairly well made, especially in that SN range.

"a 3/8'' deep socket and a couple swift blows",  ???
