Seems like the stocks have a super high gloss shine on them, like lacquer or something that you can buff up to a shine like that.

I looked pretty closely at all the pics I could find out there.  I didn't want it if it had a fiberglass stock.  It has wood grain and it looks strange because it is not a beat up refurb milsurp like we are used to seeing.   :)

I have an unissued SKS and it looks like that in pictures, but not in person.  That is my take on it.... YMMV

It could just be a color coating of some sorts, almost like the old red century imports guns got.
