Item Link   Description   # Bids   Final Price   Year   Arsenal   Arsenal Condition   Current Condition   S/N   RM's Notes

496880509   Russian SKS rifle 1954 Tula original matching   21   $680.00    1954   Tula   As-Issued   Good   ИA6206   I dunno, this gun gives me the Heebie Jeebies.  I don't like the white fill of course, but the stock stamping looks wrong to me too...

497466883   Non Refurbished Russian Tula SKS Letter series I   1   $650.00    1957   Tula   As-Issued   Very Good   TO4420_И   Wonderful looking gun here.  The stock is that perfect dark reddish color that absolutely POPS in the sun.  The "non-refurbished" description is, of course, ridiculous.  Judging by the photos, it sure seems to me that this one indeed had a coat of shellac re-applied to the stock.  I call it as-issued, and it's in good enough shape that this is irrelevant.  Certainly a $650 gun here.

497520602   RUSSIAN SKS Rifle Laminated Stock Blade Bayo 1954r   1   $499.99    1954   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   BЛ3015   I hade never seen a S/N'd Russian bayonet until now.  thumb1

497818854   Russia SKS 7.62x39 Semi Auto w/bayonet   1   $400.00    Uncertain   Uncertain   Bubba   Good   BЛ4048   If I had to guess, I'd say this one is a '52 or '53 Tula.  Bubba got to it and it went through heavy refurb anyhow so who the hell knows.

497829527   1950 Russian SKS 7.62 x 39   4   $280.00    1950   Tula   Bubba   Fair   Uncertain   At first I thought, you know this guns isn't *that* bad.  Then I looked some more, and then some more, and then still more.  By the time I was done, I was ready to stab myself in the eye with a spoon!  Damn Bubba!

497875512   Russian SKS 7.62x39 Rifle Made 1953 C&R $1START MAYBE UNFIRED GUN w/ MATCHING #'S YOU MUST SEE   16   $515.00    1953   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   BE1568   Nice gun.  Get rid of the 'unfired' crap and you've got a more or less accurate auction going on.  Interesting П going on in the stock there.  I wonder if it's a 1960 refurb date on this one?

498102383   Russian SKS Excellent Condition 1954r 7.62 x 39mm ALL Matching Numbers w/ Accessories   12   $595.00    1954   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   BИ7550   Lots of photos, but really don't tell much about the gun.  Seeing quite a few of these this cycle.

498307560   Russian Tula SKS rifle laminate stock Nice shape   1   $475.00    1956   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   HM419_Д   I really like the way this stock came out.  Not 100% sure it's refinished, but I'm thinking possibly…

498506932   Russian Military SKS Rifle Tula 1954 Matching NICE   41   $1,025.00    1954   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   ЗЛ2269   I opened this one expecting to the holy grail of SKSs.  Imagine my disappointment to see it's an 'Ex-Ex-DDR" that two noobs bid up into the stratosphere over 41 bids.  This guy should be banned from GB got crap like this.  Dollars to donuts that it's listed again soon.

498508903   Russian Tula SKS 1954 #s Match Excellent Cond.   8   $625.00    1954   Tula   Light Refurbished   Very Good   HC1634   Great looking gun here.  The stock sold it, even being a refurb.  Very nice!

498538041   Russian SKS last year production at Tula 1958 ,   1   $500.00    1958   Tula   Bubba   Good   CИ256_K   Swapped out handguard = bubba 100% of the time. Sorry that's the rule regardless of how easy it is to try and put back.  I will say that orig. stock is fugly.  What a dog.

498565752   1951 Russian sks matching #s great condition. NR!   1   $459.99    1951   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   ПГ1306   I like this gun!  Something about it draws my eye, that doesn't happen too often these days!

498706562   1953 Russian SKS. Great condition, lots of extras.   1   $600.00    1953   Tula   Bubba   Fair   OK3021   Too bad about the Techsights.  Nice looking gun otherwise.

498874563   Russian SKS 7.62x39 KBI import re arsenal   1   $370.00    Uncertain   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   Uncertain   This one is clearly a heavy refurb letter gun, but the photos from 20,000 feet away really don't let you tell much more than that.  Seller probably cost himself $100 with the poor presentation.

498899587   Tula 1954 SKS Russian 7.62x39   1   $375.00    1954   Tula   Bubba   Uncertain   Uncertain   I keep looking for a gun in those photos and just don't see it with the way the desert camo stock blends into the pattern on that sheet! :)

498908861   1954 Izhevsk Russian Sks   4   $1,000.00    1954   Izhevsk   Light Refurbished   Very Good   Б769_C   Nice looking gun here. Photos are terrible, but the seller acknowledges this.  Are we truly at the point where a good looking Izhevsk is a $1k gun?

498912994   Russian SKS 7.62x39 Rifle w/ Bayonet & Box   1   $595.00    Uncertain   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   MП2020   Not a great photo spread.  Looks like a '50 or '51 gun but it's hard to tell.

499312157   SKS Russian 7.62x39, Tula Arsenal, All Matching #s   16   $429.99    1950   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   Uncertain   Note to sellers, please don't borrow your 5 year olds "my first playskool camera" to take your auction photos.  These photos are terrible.  I'm tempted to call horsetrash on this one.

499451876   LN Russian SKS 7.62x39 Rifle Tula Made in 1951   1   $599.00    1951   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   PB423   Someone hit the BIN on this one.  Not a bad purchase, but I'm not a fan of the stock.

499568820   Russian SKS by Tula in 1953   1   $600.00    1953   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   Uncertain   Poor presentation on this one.  Definitely has a refurb stamp on the receiver cover, but you really can't tell anything from the poor photo spread.

499785932   Russian SKS 7.62x39 Laminated Stock Starts $.01   5   $550.00    1953   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   BH1594   What's with these canned photo (left/right whole, front, center, rear, one from the top and one from the bottom)?  Can barely make out any information from them and even with a digital zoom and 26" screen it's difficult.

500133504   Russian Tula SKS 1953 with Bayonet   1   $525.00    1953   Tula   Bubba   Good   KM3805?   Someone reached on this one considering the condition and somewhat poor presentation.

500314358   * Russian SKS semi rifle* Tula 1951 Russia 7.62x39   17   $506.00    1951   Tula   Light Refurbished   Uncertain   Uncertain   Horsetrash auction plain and simple.  If you're going to take multiple photos, make sure the multiple photos show different things.  Make sure I can tell it's a 1951 from the features and not just from the refurbed receiver cover.

500514448   TULA SKS Russian 7.62x39   3   $419.00    Uncertain   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   ЗT4198   C'mon man, you gotta show the receiver cover with a gun like this.  No idea what year this one is or whether it's worth tossing out more than a flyer.  Could be the difference between $419 and $619!

500562428   Russian Tula SKS 1954 #s Match Excellent Cond.   16   $595.00    1954   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Very Good   AT3189   I bumped this one up to VG because the paint on it is in awesome shape, and there is a TON of BBQ paint on it.  Interesting circle Б refurb stamp on the stock that has been seen before but not yet positively identified.

500682476   Russian Military SKS Carbine 1954 Tula Matching   6   $400.00    1958   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   OЮ4126_K   I don't really care for the stock color at all, but the finish is smooth and consistent.  Pretty decent buy here at $400 though I'm not a big fan of how NHM import stamped this one right over the Tula star on the receiver...

500775696   Russian SKS-45 7.62x39 BEAUTIFUL! WITH SLING!   4   $505.00    1953   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   ЛO1927   Decent enough looking '53 refurb here.  The white fill on *every* number and stamp and lack of a clear shot of the stock gives me the heebie jeebies.  I wouldn't touch this gun with a 10' pole just because of that.

501510767   Russian SKS Tula 1953 30 round mag VG cond   1   $399.00    1953   Uncertain   Bubba   Good   Uncertain   Bubba messed up a really nice looker there.  Turned a $600 gun into a $400 gun.

501623439   Russian 1950 SKS Tula   1   $500.00    1950   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   ШГ1058   This one has passed through my lists once before.  Nice enough gun, definitely a 1950 gun here.

501684315   SKS Russian SKS-45 7.62x39 762 39   5   $465.00    1958   Tula   Bubba   Good   CM2180_K   Not a big fan of that stock refinish….way too glossy for my likings.

501746056   Tula Armory Russian 1951 SKS All Matching Numbers Rare Russian 1951 Tula Armory SKS Priced to Sell   1   $519.00    1951   Tula   Uncertain   Uncertain   Uncertain   Horsetrash.  It's not a CAI and it's not 'refurb'. Would you be so kind as to show enough photos to tell WTF it actually is then.  Frustrating utter horsetrash.

501766682   Unissued / unrefurbed Russian SKS Tula 1954   1   $900.00    1954   Tula   As-Issued   Very Good   ЗT7577   Nice looking gun here.  Certainly not "unissued" like the title says, and likely not "unrefurbed" either.  That back buttplate shows clear indications of use with the worn paint, and then there's the whole EP issue that I maintain isn't needed on the buttplate of a brand new gun.

501773301   Russian SKS C.A.I. Matching Russia 7.62x39 10rd   6   $360.00    1958   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Fair   TИ7841_K   This one was a deal.  It's not 'Smithsonian grade' but hell it's an honest to goodness heavy refurb letter K gun.  I'd pay $360 for one in a heartbeat.

501902267   CAI Russian SKS 1953r Matching 7.62X39   20   $676.00    1953   Tula   As-Issued   Good   HT4343   If you want to sell a gun on GB, follow this guy's lead.  Excellent presentation.  Excellent description, no fluff, no "unfired and unissued and unrefurbished" bull****.  All around great listing for a great collectible gun that's in decent shape.  Only thing keeping this one from VG status is the flaking on the stock around the crossbolt.

502188082   1950 Tula russian sks   18   $480.00    1950   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   ДГ305   Second rule of auction photo taking: Don't take the photos in the middle of the night w/o a flash.  C'mon man, this should be common sense here!

502354929   RUSSIAN SKS NO RESERVE RUSSIA SKS NO RESERVE   6   $420.00    1957   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   УA6615_И   I love that NHM added serial number!  Reminds me of when there's not enough room for a license plate on a utility trailer, you turn it sideways and go up the fender.

502932929   Russian - East German ? SKS 1954r   1   $665.00    1954   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   BB2004   Here's one of those extremely uncommon "XX" prefix guns.  Looks like Yooper John's website is still promoting the /1\ = Ex-DDR theory.  Sad to see.

502949934   1952 Tula SKS all matching serial numbers   22   $755.00    1952   Tula   As-Issued   Good   CP3001   Huh, a '52 with an early receiver and a 45° gas block.  Don't see too many of those.

502963958   Russian SKS 7.62x39 Tula 1954 20" BL NR 1954R CAI   1   $425.00    1954   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Fair   AK2603   This gun has lots of non-'54 features.  I wouldn't be surprised if the receiver cover wasn't a replacement and it truly was a late '51.

503077644   Russian SKS Original   6   $538.00    1954   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   ГT9744   """[Information added 8/14/2015 5:58:01 PM]

Hey there, I just wanted to tell you your Russian sks was sent to east germany when it went soviet after wwII, before they started east german kalashnikov production. I recognize the font of the numbers stamped on the stock, only east germany used numbers like that. There should also be those same numbers stamped on the upper handguard, no other country ever stamped the handguards as far as I know. If your rifle doesn't sell, I'd put that in the description next time, because it does have more collector value than most russian ones. Cheers buddy!""  C'mon MAN!!!!"

503366674   Russian Tula SKS 1951, All Matching Numbers   2   $440.00    1951   Tula   Heavy Refurbished   Good   PИ1053   Ok looking gun I guess.  Nothing terribly special with it though I do like the stock color.

503904034   russian sks carbine 1953 mint bore excellent   1   $499.99    1953   Tula   Light Refurbished   Good   ИK1843   Nice laminated stock with matching handguard on this light refurb.  Good clean gun, worth every penny.

Great job as usual RM!

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

rofl  A lot of East German mythology this month  bat1  :))

There is still a lot of good information on the older informational websites like Yooper John's and MosinNagant.net, etc. but when it gets out of date with the current knowledge they begin to hold back progress in the collecting communities.

pcke2000

498506932, a Liski refurb, didn't know it could be sold at that high price. Interesting.

pcke2000

498908861, I was tracking that auction too, was surprised to see it was sold for 1k. I have seen a few refurb Izhevsks on gunbroker recently, most of them (including a couple sold as KBI complete kits) cannot even reach $700 mark

Hey buddy... Don't believe the first post from 2005 you read on the interweb.    rofl2

Ummmm....  Russian refurbed k98s and Yugoslavia refurbs both serialize like that.

Show me an EG Karabiner S with a serial on the handguard.   bat1

During refurbishment, it seems like Russians treated their SKS's way better than captured K98K's, at least lots of refurb SKS's still have all-matching metal parts (except for the bayonet and rear sight leaf).

Loose}{Cannon

Nah...  Most of the time the cover date on a refurb does NOT match the erra of components of the barreled receiver. They scrubbed numbers and force matched very often.  Why dating a refurb by the cover date is completely unreliable.

Loose}{Cannon

This is a refurb 100% matching russo sneak from albania.  The cover says 53 but ALL the other characteristics are 50/51

Look very very close.  I cant even see this with naked 20/20 eyes. Wasn't until the camera cought it in just the right light.

Or for a more blatant example (one of my favorites):

Or this one:

The three things you can never proclaim a Russian SKS (no matter how much of an expert you might be):
  • Unfired
  • Unissued
  • Non-Refurbished
For obviously (or perhaps even non-obvious) refurbished Russian SKS-45s, a fourth and fifth might be
  • All matching numbers = equipment original to the gun
  • The year code on a matching receiver cover automatically indicates the build year of the gun

Dannyboy53

Thank you for another wonderful job running-man.

running-man

No problem Danny.  Of all the GB listing posts I make, I think I the Russians are the ones that draw the most interest.  Everyone's on the prowl for that pristine '53 Izhevsk or a '49 with a cruciform bayo it seems.

Hope things are going well for you my friend, haven't heard from you in a while.  thumb1

Prior to getting my "hybrid" Russian I didn't have much interest in the Russian listings, now I look forward to them! Thank you for your kindness running-man, I had some problems a couple of weeks ago but it's under control again.
