Here are some pics of the type 84 I have.  It is (was) a complete mixmaster that has been forced to match the receiver.  I got it with 2 mags that are not numbered :-[

Let me know if you guys want more pics

Very nice John! I'll add your gun to the type 84 list in the data collection page.

Definitely no serial stamped on the mag bottom plates?

John Galt

PS, there are zero numbers on the bottom of each mag.  The guy that I bought the 84 from had loads of stuff he was selling from an estate sale.  I asked him to keep an eye open for "my mag" and that I would trade him for the two that I had.

Both of the mags lock in perfectly and feed perfectly so I have that going for me!  I got a good deal on it so it doesn't hurt too much.  BTW, anyone know where I can get a paratrooper cleaning rod?

Thanks PS!  If you need any more pics, just let me know!

Para length rods are hard to come by, and I refuse to buy the repros because they are complete junk. I need a short rod too for another gun.

Wow...   Even the bolt was scrubbed.

WOW I have never seen a force matched Chinese stock. It definitely came from China that way the serial number font is typical of the breed.

Thank you for the pics and documenting this rifle.

Me neither. Interesting that they used sideways 0's over that old S/N. Those 3's in the old S/N sure are odd looking too!  Neat gun! thumb1

My 84 is scrub matched on all those parts too, but that stock.... wow, that's interesting.

Who has repros and why do you consider them junk? Thanks

Greasemonkey

It's just a cleaning rod, it fills in the blank space under the barrel, looks good, annoys me when I pull the stock and rattles once and a while.  :)

Does exactly what it's supposed to do.  chuckles1

I didn't spend all that money on a couple of Tipton rods to use some flimsy metal surplus get in the way rattle rod.  ;)
I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I said I was an addict........I didn't say I had a problem

Power Surge

The repro rods I've bought were poor quality. Original rods are machined from one chunk of larger rod. The repros are a piece of rod with and end welded on. The ends are not flat on the tip and often need to be filed down to fit in the fsb. And the holes are often not drilled straight. I reshaped mine and blued them and they will probably never come off the gun, but I still prefer something I'm paying for to be quality.

I don't recall off hand where I got them. I thING desert fox sales.

When did I say that? I got a bunch of NC Star ones on the cheap once but don't recall commenting on the quality of them...they fit...which was nice, but I don't ever use the supplied cleaning kit for my SKSs...nor the rod, it is just to complete a restoration usually.

Oh, and I don't go by that moniker here...Mr. C  rofl

Loose}{Cannon

Bwahahahahahahaha......    Your Doomed!!!

I could have sworn you stated they were great compared to other NCstar products.   hmmmmm Ill go have a looksee.

How do you eff up a cleaning rod? Even NC Star should be able to pull off a facsimile that wouldn't suck as much as everything else they do...granted I don't think I ever used one for its intended purpose...even an original...I just hate the fact that they are often missing on SKS purchases...when they aren't there it bugs me....like a missing bayonet, they just look nekkid without them.

The one thing about NC Star rods on Chinese SKSs is that at least, you know they are Chinese.  chuckles1

Our search function works great.    :)

This must be what I was thinking of.

Am I the only one who has noticed the prices on cleaning rods skyrocket over the last coupla years?  I cleaned out a LGS and scored a bunch of new NC Star rods for less than $3 apiece last year...I am now short one and cannot bring myself to pay the asking price for what folks want these days.  Stupid supply and demand.

Nice thing is...it is the one product for the SKS that NC Star didn't screw up.
