On other forums, we'll sometimes give status reports on gunshows in different areas, so I figured, what the hell....
I went to an Eastmann show this past weekend, in Columbus,Georgia, and first show I'd been to in maybe two years ( every show I've been to in the last 10 years, I swear it's my last one. Said it again after this one,LOL).
Eastmann shows have typically been better shows than those from other promoters, and this venue, the Ironworks Trade Center, is nicer than most, and is also usually home to the better shows in this area. I believe being in the immediate proximity of Ft. benning, we also have a particuarly attractive market for sellers.
Being currently in the throes of an SKS binge, I was on the lookout for them. I finally stumbled onto a couple, the first one was the grubbiest thing i'd ever seen. It was in a box, which it about had to be because it was absolutely LATHERED in cosmoline. It looked to be an Albanian (from what little I admitedley know about them), with bayonet, and a wood stock that looked like it had been peppered with tornado shrapnel !!! I think they had it priced at $349.
The other one was a VERY clean Triangle 26, folding spike, matching numbers that I could see, and virtually pristine wood stock. The asking price on that was $399. Had I not had a pending meet for later that day (the Para I just traded for), I would have floated a counter offer at the guy.
As for AK's, there was ONE single AK at the whole show !!! This one was a brand new WASR, one of the new versions with the hard wood stocks, and their asking price was something like $639. :o (I bought one just a year+ ago, that cost $499,w/ free shipping from Selway Armory in Montana).
Like many of you, I remember when there were tables full of these rifles, but given that the retailers and the used market are both very active right now, I don't get why the show was nearly devoid of these things.

About the same as the last show I went to at the Lake of the Ozarks...
There were 5 common 91/30s, all priced around $200; a nice little pinned barrel Chinese SKS without bayonet, a short lug threaded Chinese in an ATI folder, and a nice lightly refurbed 1955 Tula with a $550 price tag.
There were a couple of Yugo AK pistols, one Draco, and a recent WASR as well, all overpriced a tad.
I was forced to buy AR parts...  whistle12
Pretty sure that was just the nature of the show though, although most of the "larger" ones around here run a bout the same. I have gotten lucky at smaller ones before, but not this one...

I haven't been to a show in a looong while.  I enjoy the reports!   thumb1

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Wish I could give a report on the annual 'big' gun show here....but I had a couple of wisdom teeth ground out of my head recently and was just not up for remembering the darn thing.   BTW....the Selway Armory is here in Montana. :)
