I put in a bid on this today and ended up winning it. I went off these two pics and a brief description but I think I did all right. It said mis-matched numbers on the hand guard and mag but that's not that unusual with Yugos is it? It also said a sportered sling but it looks correct. It has the dual pouch and cleaning kit. I've found a lot of old posts about Samco having "unissued" M59s a few years back and I'm hoping this might be one. Luckily they're only about an hour away from me so I can pick it up Tuesday.

It sure looks to be in very good shape from the photos.  Even the bayo coating seems to be relatively intact.  I think the bore condition is going to determine whether you'll truly be happy when you get it or not, but with the outside looking that good, you should probably be ok.  Nice pick-up!  thumb1

Samco Yugo M59 stamps look like this by the way:

The gastube and mag numbers wont match because they only put the part  # on those two parts.    :)

Ah! I thought they were numbered different than other countries but haven't quite figured out what should be numbered. From what I've read it looks like there is a serial number, part numbers, and assembly numbers?

Very nice catch, beautiful carbine!

And...you got a screaming deal on it as well...... :) I bid on it once but had too many other irons in other fires....Nice score!! thumb1
I believe it was also listed as a Romanian....lol.

MEBears

That description would have won R-M's horsetrash of the year award. It was listed as Romanian Yugo and they made it sound like a parts gun with the wrong bayonet. I'm hoping to sneak out early tomorrow and pick it up.

I did manage to pick it up today but only had time for a few pics. The bolt carrier is matching it is just really hard to see. The numbers aren't stamped but it's not freehand EP. The bluing is a little thin in a few places and a little surface rust is starting on the magazine and gas tube but otherwise it is in great shape. The stock only has a few dents and I really like the laminate look to it.  I don't see a 1.TRZ stamp but the other stamps are nice and sharp. It almost seems like it got dipped in cosmoline without any finish on it or it is a really light oil finish. The accessories were all there and in good shape. I was surprised when they said it wasn't C&R. I did see some rusted 03A3s and Mausers that would make you cry and a huge box of Mauser bayos. I was hoping to see the AR-180 that went for $900 :o
I'll tear it down and get some good pics tomorrow.

I have one with the gastube electro-penciled with the last 3 of the serial. And I think one of my mags has a penciled number.  Never say never with Commie weapons. :)

I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse......

Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

GM's right. Yugo M59 & M59/66's are all C&R based on criteria 2: they are special enough to be on the ATF list on page 33 (as long as they were produced before '92.)

QuoteYugoslavian manufactured rifles M59 and M59/66, 7.62 x 39 mm caliber, all semiautomatic variations and having a fixed magazine, manufactured from 1947-1992.

Very nice pickup MEB, that's certainly a keeper!  The bolt carriers I've seen have mostly been chemically / bead blast etched or laser marked (the laser marked ones are easy to spot, the numbers are really dark and look nice and sharp!).  thumb1

I agree 100% and you even got great looking accessories. I have yet to score any at all along with a rifle purchase.

Well I took it apart today and am happy to say it was all in great shape but the bolt and gas tube are non matching :( The barrel cleaned up easily and has a really nice shine to it. Most of the parts have a BK, TR, or both EP'ed or etched on them. Just about every part down to the crossbolt has a part number. The barrel, receiver, and rear sight have a matching number. The non matching bolt doesn't really bother me because it is still in much better shape than described. I do wonder if the stock is a replacement 59/66 stock. Even though it is matching the bayo groove seems very long. It is only 3/4" from the magazine. My Russians and Romanian have a 3" gap. Pics aren't the greatest the light was crap today. I am still very happy with it. I almost bought one from Wideners before I found out they were neutered and the ones SOG had a while ago didn't have the bayonet or accessories. And thinking of Blicero's recent post if something does break I won't be crushed :)

Blicero

That is a gorgeous rifle. Matching numbers be damned.
