I saw this light refurb SKS-45 in my favorite LGS last Friday on the way to dinner with my wife. The price was right and I couldn't pass it up (expensive dinner)  :o  Hey, like Ol Relic said, " I couldn't leave an (insert firearm name here) there at the mercy of any Bubba that might walk in, right?"  stop1  This is actually the first Russian SKS I've seen in the wild.

Bluing is very good with a bit of wear at the sling attachment point and a couple of small scuffs on the magazine bottom.  The bore is also very good.  All the numbers match on the metal parts including the electropenciled gas piston and gas tube.  No refurb arsenal stamp on the receiver cover or anywhere else that I recognize. But, the stock is a recycled force-matched 1952 Tula stock. The inspection stamps around the crossbolt are faint and filled in with shellac. The shellac is very good except for a few dings from post refurbishment shipping and handling and a matte finish in the cheek weld area of the stock.  It came with a sling and the cleaning kit behind the trap door.  Oh, and it was filthy inside!  Got the loose soot and carbon scale out of the bolt, receiver, gas tube etc. and it turns out that it cleaned up nicely. Haven't shot it yet, but so far I can't complain much about my latest SKS  :)

1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms... It doesn't matter how many Lenins you get out on the street begging for them to be taken.

Holy crap!   :o

:))  Oh, I forgot, the top edge of the buttplate has just a little bit of bluing wear fineprint  chuckles1

Ol Relic

Nice one.  And it's gratifying to know that I'm a positive influence in the war against "Aintry Pass" types.   :)

Very nice! I almost NEVER see Russians for sale up here in Vermont. tons of Yugos and a few late model bubbad chinese here and there but never any Russians.
"Stella quarta decima fulgeat. May the 14th star shine bright."

Article 16th. Right to bear arms; standing armies; military power subordinate to civil -  Vermont Constitution

That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State - and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.

Laugh I'm going to have to start warning the newbies against falling for Ol' Relic's costly influences!   chuckles1

She's a beaut Jon!  I've never seen a Russian that nice in the wild here in NM.  They are always bubba'd with black plastic. cry1

Thanks!  It's the same here in WA as it is in VT.  Perhaps, even more restrictive, I've only seen Chinese SKSs until this Russian popped up.

I'm going to have to start warning the newbies against failing to follow Ol' Relic's influences! Fixed it!

Thanks Joe!  I've only seen one SKS in plastic locally and it was a mis-matched Chinese, so just a little sniffle and set it back in the rack  :))

Taba

I got a 1954r Tula with same markings and a Repair stamp on reviver cover. it is as good as shape as yours, mine has BH#### all matching #'s. I love her and need to give her a nice bath! the only thing I have done was put a 20rd fixed box mag and night sights. might get a reviver cover to hold a scope and strip the paint off then cold blue it. I will keep all parts and will never "Bubba" it up. i really don't understand why someone would take an SKS and try the make is something its not meant to be. if I want an assault rifle i'll just gat a AK.
