FINALLY...got a chance to fire my Russian today.

Finally got a chance to burn some powder today using Wolf 123 grain black box. At 25 yards the first group, as you can see, was high and to the right. I brought the next 4 rounds high into the chest area and the last four were more or less centered around the bullseye.

I guess the trigger group was refurbed too (like new) as it still has most of the blueing on the face of the hammer, it has obviously seen very little use. But the trigger was a joy to work with, it was smooth as glass and let off quickly. Is this common with the Russian carbines as opposed to the nightmare Chinese triggers?





There is a pretty good spread in each group but I was having an off day, with a steadier hand I believe I can tighten them up a little. I plan on some hunnert yard shooting tomorrow!

When I shoot at those humanoid targets I like to aim at the crotch. I like to imagine I'm bursting Himmler's nuts to smithereens. Far more pleasing than a head shot.

I think you got lucky with the trigger. There's nothing extraordinary about my Russians.

Thanks Cannon...yeah I picked the hottest time of the day, it was 91 and summer isn't here yet. I think I got it close enough it would ruin somebody's day.

Thanks hippie, you're too kind! Most of you old hands could shoot groups this size at 100 yds but Im working on it!

Average group size after 5 groups of 10 shots each.

I'll dust off a carbine and show you blind paraplegics how to shoot. One time I went to the range with Armedhippie, he put the muzzle into his shoulder and pointed the butt downrange. I can't lose.

I'm in!  I've been needing to shoot off some of the worthless Golden Tiger rejects that Blicero traded me in exchange for Ugly Betty.  I managed to scrape enough powder for 10 or 20 complete rounds off the bottom of the box that the Amish dude flung onto the doorstep before he left in a cloud of dust with his horse team galloping away.

Runningman's just jealous that he practically gave away a Smithsonian condition Yugo SKS, paramount in rarity and desirability, to me for a song. But it's strange, he told me he has no use for a Yugo because he feels emasculated by the grenade launcher. It adds so much length to the rifle that it towers over him.
