This is my second /26\ carbine 11,027,044 we found a few months ago. It came with an Ultralux 4X25 scope, the previous owner did not have the original cover so I bought a replacement and removed the scope. The stock has no numbers or markings other than a small faint stamp on the bottom in front of the sling swivel. You will notice there has been a repair made to the stock, right side near the butt plate. It looks like maybe someone dropped it knocking a chip out of it?! The trigger group, magazine and bolt/carrier are all matching. The gas tube has the number 8490 electroplated on it and the rod appears new.

It has surface rust in several places but otherwise is in decent condition and shoots great, in fact better than my 3 mill /26\! I plan to get a spike bayonet and cleaning rod soon.

That's a nice little shooter there Danny!  thumb1

That repair at the back of the stock is pretty common.  The cause for it in the heel like that is typically a poorly located pilot hole for the screws that hold the buttplate on.  I had a Sino-banian that had a crack in the exact same area.  If the holes are off too badly and put undue stress on the wood, a crack can form at a grain line and travel down the stock at it ages.  I suspect that's what may have happened in this case (does the bottom edge of the repair pretty much line up with the upper screw that holds the buttplate on?)  If you're curious, you might pull the buttplate and see where the repair is in relation to that screw pilot hole.  It looks like they cut out as small a section of the problem area as they could.  Does the repair go all the way through and show up on both sides, or just on the right side?

Neat gun regardless!

It doesn't appear to go all the way through running-man but your explanation makes much better sense than it simply being dropped. I was curious after reading your post so I pulled the butt plate and here is what I found. It's hard to tell how deep this repair goes but I'm sure it's at least to the hole for the screw.

This is how it looked when we got home with it. After shooting it a few times I removed the scope and put another cover on it.
The previous owner didn't have the original receiver cover so the only thing matching is the bolt, carrier, trigger group and magazine. We are using the cover w/riveted rail on Mary's Carbine now as it lowered her Reflex sight about half an inch. The bore looks great and it shoots really good.

photobucket doesn't like your links Danny!  think1

I see all but 3 now?

Are you talking about the total number of all the posts? Initially I posted 5, then in answer to running-man asking about the repair to the stock I posted 3 of the end of the butt stock without the butt plate. In a third post I added 2 more of the carbine, one with the scope and the second one of the target.

Thanks guys! I'm getting that now also bbush. Last night all the photos were showing on my computer, I don't know what the hay happened. I got Mary to take the photos, she does much better than I, I'll blame it on her!

I'm going to try it again.
